YouTube TV? I saw where YouTube said their pricing would stay the same as before, but did they wind up having to pay more for the ESPN "package"? Or did ESPN suddenly say, "Crap, we never really thought YouTube would have the stones to take us off their air" and capitulate pricewise?

Don't know, but would assume YTTV is the who HAD to cave. Disney/ESPN during this time of year pretty much holds all the chips. That on top of all the people that switched from YTTV the moment they didn't have sports channels I would think Disney viewership didn't drop as much as you would think

Disney is the bigger a-hole in my eyes on this one.

Don’t underestimate the advertisers. When YTTV pulled the content, any advertisers lost 4 million viewers in a snap. I suspect several of them put heat on Disney.

trying to run streaming competition out of business. Hoping that their Hulu would be last one standing. But, their greed at seeing those dollars from 4 million subscribers actually disappear probably tipped the scales, as you said.

The real money isn't from advertisers anymore ...

... there's a whole lot more money in mining everyone's data. THAT is what makes the big $$$ these days. Get an app on everyone's phone, and you're set.

Sports are very important, and I think ESPN basically controls the Football, Baseball, and Basketball here in the US, but there are not that many soccer games on ESPN networks, and that is a huge market worldwide. Think globally.

IMO YouTube may not have had to give up much in this deal as just about EVERYONE can get to YouTube ... not everyone watches network TV anymore.

Disney owns ABC, ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN U, ESPN News, the ACC Network, the SEC Network, Disney and Hulu.

They were in a no lose situation.

I can honestly see Disney blinking first. I dont think they wanted to keep their channels off YouTubeTV. What they did do though is get a lot of new subscribers for the week it was announced to it going back on air. They made a lot of money doing this.
