Curious how many of you, when you applied to Clemson

used Washington & Lee as your fallback school just in case. I know I did, but thank goodness things worked out and I got that acceptance letter from Clemson, otherwise I'd probably be some poor liberal arts delicate snowflake looking for a safe space and getting triggered all the time.

To be fair, they re-centered the sat in 1995, so a 1080 in 1966 might be Near 1200 post 1995.

LOL!!!!
Times have changed!
1080 and thinking about GaTech or Clemson! I guess it means we are getting smarter generation by generation, though sometimes it doesn't seem that way.

Took a visit to each one..wasn't impressed. Liked GaTech better, though. But, having to push a button to stop 6 lanes of traffic, to visit the bookstore, put a bad taste in my mouth. :-/
VERY thankful when I received my Clemson acceptance letter.. GO TIGERS!!!

stepdad (rip), the dooshsnozzle that he was, was uga grad and hated clemson. refused to pay for clemson because of fball rivalry. after i got accepted, and 10 days prior to departure for clemson, ol' stepdad pulled the plug. and mom was a clemson girl. huge battle in the household and he refused to budge. all this because of football.

Bama was my fallback school. As a matter of fact..

I never had even visited Clemson before and was on a waiting list to get in. I had never even visited Bama before either. I ended up never visiting either. The last week my Mom called Clemson admissions and asked why we never heard anything. They said I was in, so I went to Clemson. I just knew I was going to school in the South. I am from California and we don't have those college great football towns, generally speaking, like the East Coast does. I found out about Clemson from my neighbors Mom who grew up in Union, SC. I winged it.

I applied to only ONE school - CLEMSON. I really did not want to go to college, and was going to get drafted and go to Vietnam like many of my friends. My family could not afford college, but my mom insisted that I try to go. I agreed to only apply to ONE school, and if accepted, then I would do my best. I overslept for my SATs in 12th grade, but had taken the SATs my junior year, and made a 1040. That was good enough back in the day, and probably not all that bad today. Anyway, I was the FIRST in my entire family tree to ever attend college. Today I am thankful for my mom insisting that I attend college. My mom and dad paid for the first 2.5 years, and I got married and paid the remaining 1.5 years. I actually got Food Stamps 1 year because of some special thing for students. I was pretty darn poor. When I retired, I was making 6-figures. CLEMSON makes a man better.
