question for you techies out there...

Aug 30, 2014, 8:54 AM

I have a new 32 in TV doubling as my computer monitor...

When I switch the input to go from TV to computer, it's not wanting to flip to the CPU. I just get a snowy screen.

However, If I turn the tv off and back on, it will bring the computer screen up fine.

The problem is only switching from TV to computer... it switches over to the TV fine.

CPU is HDMI1
TV is HDMI2

any thoughts?

Is this tv monitor the only monitor for your computer or is it a laptop?

Try going to the control panel and select connect to a projector and change the settings. Trial and error is all I've got. You've been there already so you know the road.

The worst than can happen is you'll complete disable your monitor (don't ask how I know) but unplugging the TV will and restarting your computer will reset that.

Give it a whirl.

Is this dangerous?

I stuck with you though thick and thin on the Big12 thingy.

It couldn't be more dangerous than that.

No, it really isn't dangerous. If it can be effed up, I'v effed it up. If your monitor fails to display then unplug the TV and restart the computer.

Most likely an HDMI handshake issue with the display. I would experiment with different output resolutions and see if that helps.
