Recommendations for Visiting Fans

Sep 28, 2014, 7:21 PM

Hi! I'm an FSU medical student and I've got a month long rotation in North Carolina starting next week. On the way up I decided to swing by to see the Clemson-NC State game Saturday. I've already got my ticket and I'm looking forward to it because I've never been to a game at Death Valley!

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on some good restaurants around Clemson, especially BBQ places. I love good hole-in-the-wall BBQ joints. Also, please let me know if you have any other recommendations for pregame events I should be sure to see inside or around the stadium!

I'm really excited to come see ya'll! There's a chance I may be in the Clemson area for residency, so if that happens I'll definitely be going to a lot of Tiger games in the future. As for Saturday, I've got a purple shirt picked out and I'll be cheering for you to win!

Thank you so much for the help!

Smokin Pig is a must. Sardi's has good ribs.

If you're in town for a few days. Take some time to visit greenville. Downtown is really nice. Go to Soby's .... Not BBQ .... But very good. Not cheap though. Look em up online

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! That Smokin Pig looks really good. I always love trying new BBQ places, so I'll definitely check it out.

Hahahaha, yeah, I don't even own any orange (mostly because of UF and to a degree UM). Luckily I do have some purple though, so I'll be sporting that. It'll be fun getting to cheer for Clemson. I'm really hoping to take in the full game day experience.

Speaking of which, I know about running down the hill and all, but are there any other pregame traditions or game day events in or around the stadium I should be sure to see while I'm there?

Thanks again and go Tigers!

It would entail alot of walking, but there's the Tigerwalk two hours before kickoff. The players walk in from the parking lot behind the Westzone - endzone opposite the Hill.

1.5 hours before kickoff - there is a short pep rally at the ampitheater in the middle of campus.

The band leaves that and marches down laundry hill to the stadium and around the stadium about 1 hour before kickoff.

The Esso Club is a great place to enjoy a cold beer and appreciation of college football.

Just stop at a tailgate you'll be invited to.
