Peter Woods & the future of Clemson football

So between Green committing today & the reports coming out of Bama message boards, I am now about 85% confident we land Peter Woods. Woods is good friends with Green & Crayton who are both now committed to Clemson so I think we are sitting pretty.
This recruiting class has me pretty excited about the future. I think we can all agree that the 2023 season will probably be a rebuilding/underwhelming season. I think we will/can potentially win a national title this year but that’s just me. But looking ahead to the 2024 season, we might have a defensive line that’s even deeper & more talented than what we are about to see this season. We also might have the best CB duo in the country. I am also very high on where I think our offense is going to be. If we land another strong recruiting class in 2024 Clemson will inevitably win another national title within the next 5 seasons, I could even see 2…….. maybe more

Woods would be the silver tuna in this class and vault it higher long term. That being said I find it more than challenging to grab a 5× DT from Alabama's back yard unless they are absolutely loaded there and aren't really pushing for him. I haven't looked but that could be the case.

I don't agree that 2023 will either be underwhelming or a rebuilding year. Unless you consider winning the ACC and making the playoffs as "underwhelming/rebuilding."

Clemson is at a point where we don’t rebuild, only reload.
We’ll lose a lot along the defensive line. But the 2023 defense will have an unbelievable back seven. Barrett Carter, Jeremiah Trotter Jr, and Andrew Mukuba will be All-American type performers in year 3. Nate Wiggins and Jaedyn Lukus likely start at CB. We will have some combination of Tyler Venables, Mickens, Zanders, Phillips, and Covil at safety. Vonta Bentley or Keith Maguire will be 5th year seniors.
The 2023 defensive line will take a step back, especially at DE. But, Tre Williams and Payton Page likely takeover as starters, and both are future NFL players. The coaches have raved about Kevin Swint’s development at DE. Dabo has always maintained that Greg Williams is the next Kevin Dodd, a player that finally develops into a winning player by their 4th or 5th year. Denhoff and Zaire Patterson were highly recruited, and will be in their third year. Plus, the defensive line class that we’ll be signing will be special.

2023 could be like 2019 when our defense was anchored by the youthful Tyler Davis and Xavier Thomas up front and Isaiah everywhere else

“Rebuilding/Underwhelming”? Why?

If we can get our offense back, we will have a great year. IMO, QB and OL were our weak links last year. I think either DJU will show why he was 5-star, or CK will. Barring injury, QB should become a strength again and we have good young talent on the OL. I think we resume ownership of the conference crown.
