News Flash: Frank Martin is NOT a good game coach....

with about 10 minutes left in their game vs Vandy, the coots had a 12 point lead.....Vandy went on a run. He made NO strategic timeouts, didn't change up his defense or offense, and with about 6 mins left, Vandy had the lead by 2. They went on to beat the chickens by 15. Martin pretty much just sat and pouted most of the last 5 mins and the inevitable happened.....

So essentially he abandoned any attempt to alter the flow of the game.

There's something wrong with that guy.....

maybe its that he gets so emotionally involved in the game, he can't think or react as a HC....I don't know and am just speculating. But to watch he and Brownell work a game is like the diff between night and day. Martin did make a couple of substitutions during tv timeouts or foul stoppages, but he wasn't trying to do whatever it took to regain control of the game. To use a football analogy, whatever plan he implemented at halftime was what he went with the entire 2nd half....and eventually it became clear it wasn't going to work...The chickens all wonder why they have blown so many leads in the closing half of so many games.....they needn't look far from the end of the bench

Yeah the coots are over there fussing again lol, its still funny how they were talking NCAA Tourney just over a month ago to probably not even being NIT bound now. It couldn't happen to a more delusional bunch.

he's come to the realization that hits every SCAR coach

both football and basketball......this is his last head coaching job. He can see the inevitable.
SCAR is truly the Graveyard of Coaches......not just football, which is more notoriously famous. This isn't some joke, it's the truth.
Check it out (I only went back to McGuire because you never heard of anyone before him): Frank McGuire Bill Foster George Felton Steve Newton Eddie Fogler Dave Odom Darrin Horn Frank Martin
Not a one ever coached again. I think Felton is an assistant somewhere; about all that's left out there after the SCAR experience drains your soul.
Meanwhile, every Clemson head coach I ever remember went on to coach other teams for many years.
Frank Martin better start looking into taking some broadcasting classes.

That's a good post, and it's the same in football. Head coach at USuC is your last stop as a head coach.

Frank McGuire - retired 66 years old Bill Foster - coached for 10 years at Northwestern George Felton - have no idea where he went Steve Newton - Was an Athletic Director somewhere in the Midwest Eddie Fogler - Fogler was a unique case in that he hated what CBB had become. Worked TV once and while but seemed very happy to walk away from the game. Had offers but never wanted to coach again. Dave Odom - retired at 66 years old Darrin Horn - Horn will land at college in the future, he is a good coach but USC was a bad situation. He was very good at WKU and can coach. Frank Martin - Jury still out, This year should have been better but there is no excuse to be 2-10 in a very very very poor SEC.

I met the guy one time (unfortunately live in cootville). I liked the guy, but he was kinda that "crazy, fun to hang at a bar" kinda crazy. I thought he would be a decent coach for the coots, not one that'd take them far, but at least make them respectable. But today shows he's not. No excuse they shouldn't have won today, or their next 3 games, against truely bad teams. They beat us 'cos they got us early when the team was trying to jell, find a chemistry, or oh, I don't know, Let out coach figure the team out. We'd kill them now.

Tom
That was exactly my impression the few times that I have met Martin. I found him funny at times and a little off.......the rest of your post is spot on.
