Why Lane Kiffin is concerned with the NIL era

View Now or mgr.consensu.org/portal-v2.html

It’s from ESPN. I hope the link view now will work. It just shows the chaotic condition college football is in. If it does not work go to ESPN it’s worth the time.

I understand his concern. At least during the era of the $100 handshake we were not talking about millions of $$$$$$$$ for a very small group of players.

Clemson’s advantage verses NlL is our HC’s character, moral values and integrity. This includes the staff and the AD. There are some parents who still value the characteristics that make up Clemson University’s Culture. Money cannot buy everything or everybody.

Go Tigers! I believe what I post. I have faith, confidence and still believe in The Clemson Family and what Clemson University stands for.

This is a really good article about NIL and the problems already associated with NIL. BYU, Auburn and a few other schools are already under investigation. NIL is about 7 months old and there is already underhanded deals, booster’s hands in the mix, and schools are asking the NCAA for help. They could not control college athletics before NIL why will they be able to helping now. Coaches are going to bolt to the NFL, get out of coaching completely or finish out contracts and retire.

I see Dabo trying to stay until his contract ends but I don’t think he will make it. To win IMO Dabo will have to compromise his values and Clemson’s culture. I strongly don’t believe he will cave into the cesspool that is becoming college football. I see him getting out of college coaching sooner than later. If Clemson misses the CFP’s this or next year I can see some fan’s throwing Dabo under the ROY bus which through his on decision cause him to resign as HC. He may stay long enough until his kids graduate and head out into the post college world. Then he and Kathleen can spend their retirement time traveling and spend quality time together and spending time with his family. He may stay long enough to make sure a Clemson player/Clemson Coach is ready to move up to take his job. I think he is preparing for all of this now. Being the man Dabo is he want’s to leave Clemson in the best place he possibly can.

I hope I am wrong about what I stated above and college athletics will correct it’s own problems. Dabo stays to win more National Championship’s and NIL and the TP does not destroy college athletics. Unfortunately, I just don’t see any positive changes happening. All you have to do is to look at the Greediness in professional sports and I believe you are looking at the future of college athletics. The sad thing about college athletics is the first to suffer will be non revenue generating sports.

This is such an over dramatic take.

We're about to sign a top 10 class after losing our OC, DC, AD, and TONS of support staff.

No one is compromising any values. Dabo is passionate about developing youth and he isn't going to stop because some people have it easier than him. If anything - I expect it to light a fire under him.

I agree with this. Plus we seem to be more aggressive toward the 2023 class. No doubt Dabo will figure it out

If anything, I have noticed Dabo being more energized in the last few months. So have the people around him.

Kiffin said he didn't know how the NCAA could do it, but they have to do something to level the playing field.
