To be fair, BV's defenses at Clemson performed better than our current Tiger defense. Let's hope that changes over time...

This comment deserves more attention. BV hired Todd Bates & Ted Roof as co-DCs. Based on comments here, Bates sucked as a recruiter (he was solid at best) and Roof wasn't exactly pulling in 5-star guys as the HC at GT or as the DC at NCST, App St., or Vandy. Still, it shouldn't take too much to recruit well at OU, but BV can't be the HC AND run the defense. IMO, he was better off being a career DC like Bud Foster at VT, but he's more than earned the right to pursue his dream.

That doesn't stop people from blaming Dabo for whatever shortcomings are flavor of the minute. Oklahoma is loaded with NFL talent, Roof was supposed to be a Defensive Guru. The Sooners has been the best team in the Big 12 for a decade or more. They aren't short of talent. They had transfers out and had almost as many transfer in, I thought the portal in those types of situations were supposed to be the great equalizer? Hasn't that been the rallying cry for every position Clemson needed help in the past 4 years or so?

There’s a big difference in being a head coach and a Defensive coordinator. The head coach has an entire program to manage…different skill sets

It’s obviously too early to judge BV on his head coaching performance, but some coaches are better suited as coordinators rather than head coaches…..See Muscoot

31 point loss. Not sure but I believe that's worse than any loss he suffered the entirety of his career here. Surprising. He'll get it fixed but boy oh boy they've got some work to do
