I've found our new OC! Hear me out...

Dec 26, 2022, 10:00 AM

He hasn't beem a successful head coach and is sure to be fired in two weeks, but he's a QB whisperer...

Kliff Kingsbury!

Since we don't have an opening, my guess, he will be an OC and remain at the Pro level.

Men at 25 play football. Men at 40 play tennis. Men at 60 play golf. Have you noticed as men get older their balls get smaller.

Last time I checked there was no openings for OC. Anyway the guy you mentioned if fired would never take an OC job in college

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We don’t have an opening for OC.

Dec 26, 2022, 10:43 AM

If we did, it’s safe to assume that Dabo would either

A. Promote from within, or
B. Hire someone who previously played or coached at Clemson.

Neither Chad Morris nor Brent Venables were hired from within nor had connections to the university.

I'm ever hopeful!

What are you hoping for?

Dec 26, 2022, 12:17 PM

There's an OC on the planet that can blow other teams put with a broken QB, but even considering the broken QB situation we won 11 games and are currently 7th in the country.

What the he|| is wrong with some of you people?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

*NOT***

Dec 26, 2022, 12:21 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It’s so dumb when people bring this up

Dec 26, 2022, 12:50 PM [ in reply to Re: We don’t have an opening for OC. ]

It’s called context.

That was a very different Clemson program and Dabo was a young coach and hadn’t achieved nor proven a #### thing.

It’s a different Clemson and a different Dabo today.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Right, and those hires were over a decade ago.

Dec 26, 2022, 1:34 PM [ in reply to Re: We don’t have an opening for OC. ]

Since then, Dabo hasn’t shown a willingness to go outside the program to hire a coordinator.

Yeah, that was in another lifetime. Sadly mister KELLER's observations hold much merit in this instance.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So, partsunknown,

Dec 28, 2022, 2:08 PM

Please explain how Ms. Keller's post has merit? How has it hurt our program. And just to reiterate, don't mention the 21 wins and 5 losses the last two years without recognizing the root cause. I assume you don't need an explanation on that root cause.

Honest request for discussion.

Dec 26, 2022, 12:19 PM [ in reply to We don’t have an opening for OC. ]

Dabo is the most successful coach in Clemson history, in any sport, by far.

He's currently leading the 2nd best program since he was hired in 2009.

Heck, he could hire a lame asss like you, and I'd still accept it considering his accomplishments.

Maybe you should try it, troll?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Any sport by far? Really?

Dec 26, 2022, 1:35 PM

Clemson golf and soccer say hello. And they have had great coaches.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

By far. There's not a sport on campus who has equalled football.

Dec 28, 2022, 2:48 AM

Golf and soccer are good. Just not nearly on the level of what Dabo has created. Not that that was even needed to justify the point.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He said “by far” when that is not true.

Dec 28, 2022, 11:33 PM

We have three national championships in soccer, which is the same as football. We have a national championship in golf and have done things that no other program in collegiate golf have done. We have Hall of Fame coaches in both of those sports. So to say football stands above all things else by a country mile is simply not true.

And again, the point that people keep wanting to ignore is yes Dabo built the current program. But he is also the reason for its recent decline! Bobby Bowden built Florida State. It also fell apart under his stewardship. Sadly, this is a common theme whether it’s a corporation, a college football team, or any other organization.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You sure got your panties in a twist...

Dec 27, 2022, 2:30 PM [ in reply to Gee, that's odd.. You're trolling again. ]

Are you saying the play-calling was good this year. That, if we were committed to DJU, the offensive scheme gave him the best opportunity to be successful?

Streeter was the QB coach in DJU's disappointing first full season as starter. Then he was promoted to OC and, once agains, DJU was disappointing.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The playcalling won us 11 games.

Dec 28, 2022, 2:52 AM

We adjusted to the few things we could do well, and we won football games doing it. I don't know what kind of explosive offense you're dreaming of, but if we did try to call that and not adjust, then we would have had a terrible season.

Great job by Streeter to find a way to win with a broken QB. Yet again, there are no magic playcalls or schemes (other than what we ran) that could have made the biggest issue on the team better.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dabo trains people to do things his way.

Dec 26, 2022, 2:10 PM [ in reply to We don’t have an opening for OC. ]

A man whose never run a business or a job isn't able to understand how the entire operation is bettered by having everyone on the same page. You get to know one another and the transition is gentle and less challenging and there are fewer time of confusion.

I always trained or retrained my help. I've also trained a few bosses.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It’s not good for everyone to be on the same page.

Dec 27, 2022, 9:49 PM

That creates groupthink. If you don’t have new ideas, you’re not evolving. And groupthink is self-destructive. Also business always evolves. If you’re not evolving you will get left behind and go out of business.

I’ll give you a perfect example. Chick-fil-A used to only be in malls. Then they started having free standing restaurants. If Chick-fil-A was still only in malls they wouldn’t be nearly as successful as they are today because malls are dying. They were highly successful. Absolutely nothing was broken, and there was no reason at the time to change anything. But they changed their business model and now they’re bigger than ever. It’s called evolution.

Management Theories

Dec 28, 2022, 4:52 AM

On sports' boards many use the micromanagement theory when giving their thoughts about how the team should be coached and ran. The problems is if you micromanage you have to have intricate knowledge of every aspect of the organization which most of us don't have. But as someone said it is sports and makes for fun reading.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I know right!

Dec 28, 2022, 2:05 PM [ in reply to It’s not good for everyone to be on the same page. ]

Maybe one day we can have a head coach who's coaching philosophy will lead us into being a good team.

Oh well, keep hope alive!

In all seriousness Blue_Caddy, do you ever stop to look at the big picture before contriving something to complain about?

Just for reference, since we brought in that poor management philosophy I'm 2009, we're 2nd in the country in wins, playoff wins, national championship games, and national championships. If we were 1st, would you still be trying to find contrived gripes?

Our offense would be good but our defense would suck. Can't build any toughness on defense running the air raid system.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That’s right, because tough defenses are built with option rushing attacks.

Lol you know what I'm saying man. A modern more balanced spread offense. You cant run air raid and have a good defense by the way you have to practice it. We just blew that team out in the championship game.

Last night Kingsbury had his best coaching

Dec 26, 2022, 12:01 PM

I actually watched and was impressed with the team effort and his coaching. Granted, they couldn’t hold on - but not bad with their third string QB. (Yes, SF is winning with their third string but outlier).

Kingsbury is welcoming firing.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dec 26, 2022, 12:15 PM

And Kingsbury isn't stepping back into an assistant role, even if we did.
