Getting the sense that this is A. Scott's last year

Mar 28, 2016, 9:12 AM

When you hear A. Rodgers talk, it definitely sounds like he's had conversations with Artavis that this will be his last year. Seems he's already called dibs on Scott's number in 2017. Unless Artavis makes a big jump this year in his ability to make plays down the field, I'm not sure if he'll be ready. However, I wouldn't blame him for leaving. With this likely being DW4's last year, you won't know what you're gonna have at the QB position in 2017. It makes sense to go out with the sure thing.

Also, Scott's not very tall and isn't a burner. That's not a recipe for getting drafted high regardless of his college production. He'll probably be a 4th-6th round pick regardless of what year he comes out. Might as well start the paycheck clock early particularly if he's like Deshaun and is on schedule to graduate next December since he was an early enrollee.

Tay is a strong, tough WR - maybe possession type in NFL.***

maybe a Steve Smith type?

As tough as SS but Artavis lacks his top end speed or hops. Whatever he decides I wish him nothing but the best - he's been a true Tiger through and through!

He's got some good speed and ups. He had some signature moments where he stopped in his tracks, lept in the air, and caught it with his body and the defender was 3 yards behind him. Easy catch.

IMO he lacks elite ball skills. Part of it may be a lack of

size, but i think he lets the ball get into his body which gives the defender a better opportunity to get a hand in and break up the play, as well as the occasional bounce off the chest pads.

He's very unique in terms of WRs. The vast majority of his catches are right around or behind the LOS and most of his yardage is YAC. He's tough as nails and very good after the catch, but i think he needs to show more than just being a screen guy. He's got the toughness to be a slot guy in the NFL, but he needs to show good route running skills as well, and I'm honestly not knowledgeable enough in that area to give an evaluation.

I think his ceiling is probably a mid-round pick.

This is his biggest weakness to me. He doesn't catch the ball with his hands often and NFL teams don't like that. He will make a great slot receiver and he's been invaluable to us. His production has been unreal but even ad good as he's been I think he will likely be a 3rd pick at best.

I have always been impressed by his balance. He basically doesn't get tackled. Forced out of bounds, but rarely tackled one on one or even teo on one (see ND)!

Yeah he doesn't fit the typical early round guy but he's tough as nails and works hard. It'll land him a spot on a team I'm sure. He would fit into a lot of packages in the NFL.

I'm getting the sense that it doesn't matter. We will just reload and reload some more.

Artavis has been ready for the NFL since the day he made this catch @ UGA

won't see constant double teams this year. only needs 71 catches to pass Sammy for most receptions as a Tiger. 900+ yards puts him top 3 receiving yards. only needs 700 to move into top 5

Artavis has already had a great career as a Tiger and will deservedly be selected as a top WR in 2017

I don't really see it. I would be pleasantly surprised if

goes 3rd round or better.

Re: I don't really see it. I would be pleasantly surprised if

Mar 29, 2016, 12:18 AM

He made a lot of plays down the field his freshman year (a lot behind the line and short to mid also), but I think we used him differently this year and his nagging injuries altered his down the field opportunities. He's shown when healthy he can definitely go up and come down with the big catch. Height will be an issue. I think he will probably test in the mid 4.5's, so at his height, speed could be an issue, but I don't see him slipping past the 3rd if he has another solid year. Hope he gets healthy. Love this kid. He's a gamer for sure!

Dabo's presser today even moreso points to him leaving

Mar 28, 2016, 10:38 PM

Dabo mentioned Artavis is schedule to graduate in Dec. just like DW4. If that's the case, he's definitely gone unless he gets hurt. He could potentially be a very good pro, but guys like him just don't get drafted high.

I know what we're gonna have at the QB position, another good one who has been coached well and who we can expect to excel.

Artavis will need to greatly improve on his mostly underwhelming

2015 campaign if he wants to be a reasonably high draft pick in 2017.

I wouldn't call 900+ yards and being selected first team all acc underwhelming. While playing with a bad knee for the second half of the season.

Yeah seriously wth. With his injury (which he played through mind you) and our wealth of receivers last year he has a d@mn good year.

Hes a great route runner with good speed and has the toughness and mental skills to overcome any deficiency in height. He will make a team in the pros.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow, it sure didn't seem like he had 900+ yards last year.

I love his game, but I don't see him going in the first couple rounds

Mar 29, 2016, 8:31 AM

Artavis is a tough athlete with good hands and acceleration. Still, he doesn't blow past people. He's small. He doesn't catch everything and his blocking needs work.

A big year could change a lot of that. But I wouldn't be surprised If he left either way- barring a major injury. He reminds me of Antonio Brown with the Steelers. AB was 6th round pick- smallish, without top end speed.

so, just because dabo says scott may graduate after 3 years means he is automatically leaving huh. who knew.

Not sure where he will go in the draft but dude has been a baller. Runs right crisp routes and literally catches everything thrown at him. Hands alone will get him in the league. I hope he has a monster year this year.
