Hope he brings something different to the table.
Hopefully he has learned enough of the technique and fundamental stuff and is a good enough communicator to pass it to players in such a way they understand. The biggest thing he can bring though is: "energy and effort"! If he is high demanding and a grinder in terms of what he expects(physical and nasty). I think we will improve. We have talented players on the roster and will get more talented players. Getting them to play as a unit and getting them to play more physical than we have over the past two seasons will be something to watch.
I have faith he is up to the challenge. I'll be watching the spring game closely. Effort and nasty increase from T. Austin would be a win for the Tigers for sure.

We should not expect T.Austin to be as good as R.Caldwell right out of the gate.
However, T.Austin is young, reputably smart, has some experience as a coach ... and is clearly a hard worker.
I trust that in short order he'll be a fine O-Line coach for us.
He'll likely have the advantage in 2022 of having a stacked O-Line room. All of the season-end 2021 starters return, and depth players in 2021 (especially M.Mayes and B.Tucker) will return. And then the RS players (T.Leigh and D.Pennington) will hopefully be ready to make BIG contributions.
We'll look for some of the little things like whether or not the 2022 line can refrain from too many false starts, and if they don't have too many holding penalties. Those are the basics which R.Caldwell managed very well; and those basics really matter.
But we are all behind T.Austin as the 'next coach up.'

Just great ... another know-nothing poster babbling about the recruiting prowess of our assistant coaches.
But you're probably impressing the gamecock fans who inhabit the TNet board.

I was not impressed at all with what I saw of him on the sidelines.

Watched him carefully from the front row right behind him. Looked like a deer in headlights.
Really really hope he proves me wrong.

From what I've heard, Dabo has surrounded himself with a ton of yes-men who pat him on the back. I don't know that it's intentional, but but it's easy to buy into the idea of a single culture when everyone kisses up to you. I think he'd be extremely reluctant to bring in an outside hire at any position who could upset that. People like to point to BV, but they forget how close we were to firing Dabo back then. I thought it was insane to promote internally for your coordinators while you bleed recruits and are in a scholarship/roster crisis, let alone giving a failed QB turned failed position coach one of the most sought-after coordinator positions in the country. But we did.

Dabo recognizing that someone (TDP) took a chance on a relatively unknown and unproven young coach back in 2008 and I firmly believe his hiring decision are simply a case of him paying it back.

As long as he's adequate at first that us all that can be hoped for. I believe he's wholeheartedly invested in his alma mater and wants to be great at what he does , and he's got some experience behind him here and at GSU , so we'll see. Gi Tigers!
