I have thought the same. I would like to know how much money his commercials I have never seen got him.

I know Dr. Pepper pulled their NIL money because they had it in their contract if his performance was below par, the money ended. Bojangles did not have that clause in their contract.

And there in lies the problem. The pressure to perform for a six figure paycheck for a 19-20 year old kid can turn a 5 star .9945 rated prospect into….well the third worst D1 QB in the country.

From everything Dabo and the other coaches have told us, DJU is an outstanding young man. He simply is not a D1 QB. Our coaches missed on him but nobody’s perfect.

While the QB play this season was admittedly tough to watch, that is a pretty crappy accusation of a 20 year old kid, with really nothing to support it.
Who knows? Maybe getting a little NIL money made a difference, but there were numerous other important variables (substandard OL, RB and WR talent drop off, couldn’t handle starter pressure, internal faintly issues…)
Or simply just not as physically/mentally ready as his HS ranking indicated.
Either way, that’s a pretty harsh comment to make even if you feel his play warrants the criticism.
I know this is an an anonymous message board, but bad karma…

NIL $$$ didn’t make DJ have the year he had.
1. OL was weak 2. Game plan was unplug TL and plug in DJ…not ready at this stage in his development 3. Receivers were in a MASH unit all season and did not fight for the ball 4. DJ’s inability to check down and run was evident 5. Confidence lost with UGA - should have watched some series with another QB in the game. 6. Game plan over the last half of the season should have been plan all along. 7. Can he get better? We shall see.

He had obvious weakness as last year. People overlooked them up.

Yes there are many problems with Clemson football this year. It doesn’t change the fact that he still played terribly and did not look office number one receiver, half of his passes were terrible even when he was not under pressure, slow and lethargic in the pocket, holds onto the ball way too long, does it make the right decisions, terrible at running the option, and there are other problems. But you get the picture. DJ has a lot of issues regardless of whatever else is going on.

While TNet is of course an anonymous message board, and anyone can freely post what they want (excluding bad / obscene language), I've got to agree with subsequent poster CS73 (see below for his retort) that your post is something of a cheap shot at DJU.
Again, unfounded assertions are anyone's 'right' on TNet, but you usually do much better in both the OP and response-post departments.

I think it did!
*could be the knee. *could be the divorce his parents are going through. *could be lack of WR that could get quick separation like a Renfrow, Humphries, Rodgers,Scott,McCloud. *could be it was TL16 team then; now it's his and the pressure was too much.
But, somewhere in there, I really think it hurt him! Gone are the days when you have to keep making improving! He had a great H.S. career. He started his college career off with a bang with two outstanding games! One on the road in a top 10 opponent's house. He played amazing!
Enter Dr. Pepper and Bojangles - and DJU we saw from last year and H.S. "Is Gone"!
Did that: "i've made it" come over him has crossed my mind as well!
