Not Wake-related but a common refrain amongst the Bama

Oct 6, 2017, 4:18 PM

apologists that I've heard even into this season is that if Bo Scarbrough hadn't gone down in the 2nd half we would've lost the game.

Scarbrough had two long TD runs in the first half: a 25-yard TD in the first quarter and a 37-yarder in the second (I still contend there was a huge missed holding call on the 1st TD run on O'Daniel).

Take out those two runs and he had 14 carries for 31 yards. That's 2.2 YPC, not exactly running it down our throats. He's obviously a good back and was sprung for those two early TDs but we had all but shut him down after that 2nd TD.

Unless Bo was going to be able to play DB and cover Williams, Leggett, and Renfrow, him being out didn't affect the outcome of the game.

Anyway, just some ammo if a Bama (or more likely Gamecock) fan claims this to you at the office.

The feathered foul will be too worried about what's going to happen to them on November 25, 2017 to dredge up what might have happened last season.

We're 1 "IF" away from being back-to-back champions.

Onside kick.

Or one blown coverage or one special team kickoff breakdown or . . . .

And how about Amon Lakip and Deon Cain being suspended from the National Champuionship the year before? And how about Mike Williams not being available for that game? And how about McKenzie Alexander going down in the first half? Think the outcome might have been affected had the Tigers had these players?

We actually dominated that game at the line of scrimmage. Had both our safeties not mailed it in and "saved" themselves for the draft, we would have won by 14 points or more.

The key to that game was simple. Bama had the better defense, but they did not have an offense that was able to sustain drives and clemson could. The key was to run so many offensive plays that their superior defense was exhausted, which is what they did...99 plays...that is a lot, and their defense was great, but lacked the depth to keep fresh talented defensive linemen. Basically, Clemson just got them too tired to effectively rush DW4 any more, and if you give DW4 time to pass the ball he will annihilate you. Probably one of the greatest game plans ever put together to defeat a great opponent. Clemson actually ran a 2 minute offense for 60 minutes against Alabama...really smart!!!

I don't remember making Mike Williams' broken neck...

or Deon Cain's absence an issue in the previous game against Bama. By their logic we should have won both games. We put Bo out of that game. They had nothing to do with knocking MW or DC out of playing.

Seriously? You've never seen that mentioned here?

Clemson

Well then you have to trade one crock

argument for another to keep it fair. So that means the year before, what if we had not lost Mack Island early in the game - that cost us the game I guarantee it. They had the long touchdown on his side right after he got hurt. And we didn't have him the rest of the way.

So that's the problem with these arguments, you have to be fair both ways with it then.

True, but I won't even engage with them. I prefer to say nothing and just give them a "have you lost your d@mned mind" look. I've mastered the look, and it works for me. In fact, I did that very thing yesterday after this jack@ss in the office thought he would "bait" me into responding to his lame "roll tide" babble. How unoriginal.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

Bama should be thankful that they are still relevant compared to CLEMSON.

Lolololololol. This is the Nick Saban Era. Clemson isn't winning a title with Kelly Bryant.
