Funny thing about the gas panic.

1st The media reports pipeline system was hacked. Then starts telling everyone there will be high prices and shortages. Then says the only reason there’s a shortage is because people panicked and bought it all up.
If the media wouldn’t have caused the hysteria to begin with there would be no issue or at least not near as bad. I’m all for free speech but the mainstream media needs to be reigned in somehow.
To me this is no different than screaming FIRE! in a movie theater which is not protected speech.

The Media should be labeled a terrorist organization because of all the harm it has done to this country.

Keystone was for carrying unrefined crude oil to refineries, not for carrying fuel to distributors, so it wouldn’t have any effect at all on the current situation.

Love this. I saw Don Henley on his tour in '86.
I was also fortunate to see the Eagles play not long before Glenn Frey passed.

If they had failed to report on the hack the folks who think the media is the boogeyman woulda claimed they were covering up some nefarious plot by the coastal elite cabal to manipulate gas prices. The media didn’t cause the hack or shortage the same stupid people who are probably still using toilet paper they bought last May are the problem. BTW who are you labeling as the MSM, FoxNews was reporting all of the same stuff that CNN and MSNBC was about the colonial pipeline hack.

How do you reign in a MSM
May 12, 2021, 11:40 AM

...that's a political tool of the United States Government? There is no difference between them and Pravda of the old Soviet Union. It's all lies and propaganda. You can bet there's more to this story than what we're being told.
The panic was planned and orchestrated.

Monday morning. They were saying the same stuff and then this a.m., sort of blaming the public for over reacting. The media seems to be running this country. Instead of just sticking to and reporting the news, they are spreading opinions.

They’ve been doing this fear thing for over a year(little over 4 years). Crazy how a select few can control a narrative that nobody is able to challenge without getting abused.

while everyone is freaking out about this shut down I don't see anyone pointing out that Biden is aggressively reducing our oil capacity and shrinking, not expanding or improving, oil infrastructure.

In my view, mainstream media (big corporate media) is here to stay. Big Pharma and other big corporate sponsors will keep big media propped up, because big media provides a valuable service to those with money and power. That service is influencing public opinion.

In South Florida there have been reports of gasoline shortages at stations here.
This is despite the fact that we are not served by any pipeline here. Our fuel comes in by ship and gets trucked out from the ports.
It's funny how this all happens as much of the country is opening back up.. just in time for Memorial Day and the summer travel season.

People read on the internet last week that chlorine was going to be in short supply. Everyone went out and bought up all the shock and sticks last weekend. People just can't resist themselves. If the weather gets below 30 people will buy up all the bread and milk.

Media manipulation? It's why we have a country.
May 12, 2021, 4:35 PM
|
|
A few radicals and criminals (Paine, Adams, Hancock, etc) aided by the wealthiest men on the continent (Washington, Jefferson, Madison, etc) launched a media/propaganda campaign to convince a bunch of spoiled farmers and workmen they were oppressed and shouldn't have to pay a dime for a war that kept them from being French.
"By 1775, the British government was consuming one-fifth of its citizens’ GDP, while New Englanders were only paying between 1 and 2 percent of their income in taxes. British citizens were also weighed down with a national debt piled up by years of worldwide warfare that amounted to £15 for each of the crown’s eight million subjects, while American local and colonial governments were almost debt-free. Against this backdrop, Americans watched as the British monarchy attempted to raise taxes on the colonists to pay down its war debt and pay for the 10,000 British soldiers barracked in the colonies."
And, after they earned their freedom from taxation in 1783, their new government began taxing them and their whiskey in 1791, and haven't stopped since. Not that that's bad. It's naive to think you can run a country with no money. And you're always going to be manipulated by media, whether it's by colonial pamphlet or modern satellite. But it's not the things you are told you should worry about, it's the things you are not told. The most effective form of manipulation isn't the lie, which can be easily disproven to a rational person. It's the half-truth, the grey, the subjective, that's most effective. You're being oppressed. Don't you "feel" oppressed?

The fault lies with the weak minded sheeple who are so easily spun up in a frenzy. "Ahhhhhh! My gas is going away, better git some!" It isn't the media, it is the fools who act so #### rashly.

Correct, people listen to the media or politicians instead of people in the know. It was on the news right after it happened and they did say do not panic and go by a bunch of gas, it will cause a shortage. But people didn't see that on Facebook so it must not be true.

What's even funnier is people fall for it every time and people start posting on social media for everyone to fill their tanks. People have short memories. This is not the first time at the rodeo with this. The line was shut for over two weeks around 4-5 years ago for a repair and it's happened multiple times during hurricanes in the gulf. Not once do i remember going without gas during past events. Totally a self inflicted crisis because of the stupidity of people.
