Does anybody have some insight into this? Seems the spread should be a lot more in Clemson‘s favor. What does Vegas know that we don’t know?

Vegas presumably knew they were receiving more bets for FSU and the points than for Clemson and they needed to do something to even out the bets.

Clemson is 3-3 Against the Spread overall this year & 6-6 in conference games since the 2021 Season.
FSU, on the other hand is 5-0 in its last 5 games as an underdog & 4-2 ATS this season overall. At 7.5, many people would argue it is a value bet for a home underdog getting more than a TD, considering (1) how many total 1 possession games Clemson has played the last few years and (2) how much better Clemson plays at home than on the road.
There was a really good article a few years back that numerically showed Clemson was over 4 points per game better at home on like-for-like games and +7 points on margin of victory--more than the twice the "normal" 3 points given to the home team.

They swing the line with the bets… The FSU fans are betting on their team, because of history & last year we weren’t very good.
It’s an away game too.

This. Fans don’t pound the line and do anything meaningful. This is real money coming in early on FSU. Makes it seem they know something. I actually thought that 7 point opening line was pretty good. This much movement was surprising to me.

Huge $$ bets coming in on Fla state. Means nothing as of now. Quite often the big boys throw a shi* ton of money early on one team, just to move the line and come back later and throw more money the other way.

This is purely anecdotal on my part and most of these lines are influenced by the way the bets are coming in so it sounds to me like a lot of bettors took FSU at the higher line and now the line is coming down because Vegas is worried the spread was too big to begin with.
I will approach it another way. We were a 6.5-point favorite against NCS. FSU really gave their game away against NCS and probably should have kicked a FG and won by 1 point. We beat NCS fairly handily so I still feel like we should be at least a TD favorite but if you give FSU 3 points for home-field advantage then you get down to us being a 3-4 point favorite.
I am hoping we can get out of the gates stronger than we have shown and then keep pouring it on in the 2H but my guess is that we could wind up in a dogfight that comes down to who has the ball last and makes a couple of key plays.

What I gathered from that article is that we can expect more holding and PI calls after none last week and that some officials obviously have untraceable offshore accounts.

It is about what people around the nation see and how they put down bets. Lines move all the time when heavy money is bet on one team. What people see is 2 athletic teams that match up very well and 7.5 was too high.

If I had money to get I’d take that over in the heart beat. FSU is injured and Clemson is playing a lot better. We saw what NCST defense did to them and I feel our D will wreak Havoc. Tigers by 15+
