If you watched the receiver's head spin around when the face mask was hit with the crown of the defender’s helmet, then you would realize if was forcible contact. As for the announcer, you are correct in that he is clueless.

A defenseless player (which a receiver is considered while in the process of making a catch) is targeted with forceful contact to the head or neck area. Looked to me that that criteria seemed to have been met. Replay said otherwise

The announcers keep on giving us their opinions on these calls, and they are usually wrong. Might be good for them to just wait for the official's call on the plays. They sound dumb when they keep doing this.
