Fact about the portal.

Fans all over the country are filling message boards with, "We need a (fill in position here). Why aren't we using the portal?"

As of earlier this afternoon, 2/3 of the athletes in the football portal had never started a game in college.

Years ago, these kids would transfer to a Div 2 school when they realized they weren't ever gonna play and didn't want to sit out a year. Now, they enter the portal. Most of them will probably either quit football or end up at Valdosta State (my alma mater) or Presbyterian or Furman or some other such school.

The average for portal players getting picked up by new FBS teams is something like 33%!

I don't know "the new math" that well, but it use to be that 33% was too far from 50/50 to take a risk on trying it.

33% also say, "Many of these kids are doing it(betting on themselves which I get to a point) without counsel. Or are being told by rival schools to enter; so they can weaken their opponent's competitive depth"!

What's crazy about the whole; every player wants to go to just one or two schools thing is: "The NFL will find you if you have what they want, period"! They turn over every stone. Even looking at Australian rules football for potential.
So, even at FCS-level football, you have a shot! If things ever go back to where graduating is as important as improving NFL chances while Dabo is HC - we should be head and Shoulders ahead of just about anybody else. But, sadly it hasn't been that way for a long time now.

They won't wind up at Presbyterian unless they are really smart and get an academic scholarship or have money since PC does not give football scholarships.
