Discussing music with my 10th grade son...

Feb 11, 2021, 10:49 PM

Asked him what songs he would be singing to himself when he is my age....would it be Pooh shiesty, lil baby, and 42 Dugg; OR would it be songs from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s? Marshall Tucker, REM, Billy Joel, the killerz, etc...

its funny that my daughter is a freshman at Clemson this year, and she sends me short video clips of the party singing Mr. brightside, piano man, etc.

I guess I wish “pop” music these days had some chops...grunge, southern rock, hair band, etc.

I feel like I am getting old.... “music in my day...”

And those are
But these are just the ones I really liked.
But this was music at a more simple time when music was something you could sing along to.

Go to YouTube, search, "Elvis first reaction". You'll be amazed at all of the young men, (mostly black) who are discovering old school music, bands etc. They're super blown away by all the talent and great songs and that entertainers could actually sing. Do that with any group from the 60s-90s.

Some music is timeless. Some deserves less time.... the super bowl halftime show is proof
