What a stupid move by TCU. Good luck finding a better replacement. Patterson will be fine. TCU, not so much.

Coaching carousel getting into gear.
Expect Venables name to be mentioned quite often, including the TCU job.
In spite of this year, expect Elliott's name to be mentioned as well.
I am seeing Kendall Briles name mentioned already as "a guy who is ready." He's being mentioned for the TT job already. He will be mentioned for the TCU job. Kiles may be ready. He may be a great HC one day. But, his resume can't hold a candle to Elliott's. Just two years ago he was the OC for FSU the year we fired Taggart. Our offense was even worse than it was in Taggart's first year. (That is probably far more due to Taggart than to Briles) but the point is still Briles has a reputation for being an offensive wizard (based on what his daddy did at Baylor). Kendall's resume is weak, very weak, when compared to Elliott's.

TT will again have a difficult time landing a solid coach. Recruiting talent to Lubb is hard, especially when you up against UT, A&M, Bay, and Ok, and Okiedokie st. And then there's the reality of living in Lubb.
Briles really wants a hc job and this may be his quickest path.
