Clemson student alcohol violations and more...

While one is one too many.
During the Clemson school year of 2013-14 there were 857 student alcohol violations, 6 sexual assaults and 6 incidents of hazing.
It looks like to me there is a far bigger problem at Clemson other than just the Fraternities.
The Women's Soccer team is involved in an ugly lawsuit involving hazing.
The University looked pathetic with their mandatory Sex Survey.
Clemson needs to get it's act together and look at the big picture, not just one very small group.

I would bet my car/house/savings account on those numbers being inflated due to a "low hanging fruit" mentality that compels law enforcement to target easy victims (underage college students) for the purposes of feeling like they've accomplished something.
Same thing happens in every young town. In Charleston, for example, cops walk right past the crackhead bums bothering everybody on King St to go and stick their nose in college students affairs.
The only conclusion is that it's easy work and easy money.

problems in Five Points.
The former chief attributed the problems to underage drinking, thereby providing an excuse to avoid the real causes of the trouble. So much easier to target students than gun-toting hoodlums.

Clemson police are total arsholes about drinking. They write MIPS if underage kids are at places where legal over 21 drinking is going on. Note sure how you can separate the age groups on a college campus. Basically you are written up regardless if you are drinking and have no recourse. Your word against the cops. Then the university brings you up in front of a council, you can't be represented by anyone, and punishes you again. They tried to get my daughter to admit to a pot violation which the police did not even cite in the MIP arrest. She was written up for having alcohol in her dorm room which she shared with a 21 year old. They just want the revenue and do nothing to stop crime like the theft that goes on such as her house being broken into and totally drained 2 weeks ago. She lives 100 yards from the police station. Cops are worthless. Sorry for the rant but I have seen how they frame these kids on this first hand many many times.

Looks like this suspension and review is sorely needed. One can only hope that due diligence can produce positive results. It is OBVIOUS that changes need to be made.
