We NEED someone who can recruit.

Re: Look at the STATS

Feb 9, 2022, 7:39 PM

Not gonna happen here that’s important to understand here we don’t get the inner city ballers so were like stuck with basically 3 stars and the occasional pj gall we need a coach who can get the best out of them and bob does that rn at furman and has been doing that

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bull. Lots of quality rural schools out there. Auburn's

Feb 10, 2022, 2:32 PM

setting is no different than ours, just for example. We get some 4 star kids now and can more with a coach who plays fun ball and wins.

Well bob richey would love to have some 4 stars on his team he passes the eye test for and kids would love his style of offense

Sick stats for sure but it might not be the formula. Brad has solid numbers before coming to Clemson. Coming from the mid majors where he produced for a couple of schools. So stepping up to majors is a big step. If you want to compete in the NCAA you really have to get 4 and 5 star players. The question is how difficult is it going from mid major to majors and upping your recruiting to accommodate the expectations that 4 and 5 start recruits are expecting? That is where the real formula is. You can be a great coach but if you can't recruit to the high level you probably won't have the success that is expected.

Is it common for top notch schools like Duke to get 3 star athletes which is common for Clemson and the 4 and 5 star athletes are rare for Clemson with the current coaching staff/ recruiting in place.

Re: Look at the STATS

Yeah, Brad had 6 of his 8 prior years with 20+ wins, three outright regular season and tournament conference championships - which account for 3 of the 8 total at both schools combined. In the combined 30 seasons prior to BB being their coach UNCW/WrightSt had exactly 2 seasons with 20 wins.

Funny thing. BB took over from Jerry Wainwright at UNCW. Who even eventually took a gig at DePaul and drove them into the ground... needing a rebuiler by the name of Oliver Purnell

And BB had a 71% winning percentage too...

I like the style of offense he plays he is a guy that kids will wanna play for I can tell but hey don’t say I wasn’t right when he goes to another school and wins conference chips

He is a minor mid major coach.

Has he ever been to the NCAAT?

Matt McMahon for Murray State has been there twice and won a game over Marquette. Would have made it during the cancelled COVID year. Expected to make it this year. Ranked #24 this week in AP poll and NET ranking in the top 30. 22-2. loss to #1 Auburn in a very competitive game.. Discovered Jo Morant from SC who is a starter in the NBA all-star game coming up. Has some good grad transfers from SEC making major strides. Has another developed steal guy in Tevin Brown. See video. So who is better now?

Oh and he would bring Tevin Brown to Clemson next season. And keep PJ Hall. Sign him up Neff...

Would you rather him over Medved? Have to say, don't know much past Wikipedia about him except watching him in game and interviews.

Both would be great. Like McMahon just a tad better since he from the South. Medved is from MN so might be more of a Big 10 guy. Not much separation. These are two of the best mid majors guys I would look at.

I don’t think we could get him is what I’m saying he is too highly regarded to come to Clemson that’s why I say we need to take the chance on a young guy that nobody talks abt and who’s sooo good nobody else I think coulda taken furman to 17-0 wins over nova Louisville Loyola Chicago took a lsu team that made the sweet 16 to the brink like come on face the facts

He’s so good but can’t win a water down socon…Bob is a coot..he doesn’t like Clemson. Not a good fit.

What do you mean? McMahon is from TN and Murray State is just the same size as a lot of SoCon schools. He played at App State and a lot of people have not heard of him into this season. His wife went to Furman and played bkball so maybe she wants to come back to area.

Richie has not been to the NCAAT yet. All the accomplished coached lately have been to the NcAAT: Brownell, OP, Barnes, Ellis. The last guy Clemson hired with no experience as a head coach was Shyatt in the NCAAT as a HC. Look how bad that turned out?
McMahon has gone to the NCAAT twice and won a game over a ranked Marquette.

First we have to get to the point of actually having a coaching search. There are several candidates that would appear to be good, but any candidate is going to have to juggle both coaching and recruiting. Yes, there are challenges to recruiting to Clemson. However, it doesn't lessen the importance of getting the best possible players to Tigertown.

When the time comes, if it does, there will be a deep dive into several candidates. Neff and advisors will not only need to evaluate coaching and recruiting, but educational, social, and administrative factors, as well. All of it will be weighed against whether it is financially feasible. It is entertaining to speculate on the coaching job, but in the meantime let's say a little prayer that Neff is the right man for his job.
