Bryant & Israel

Jul 30, 2015, 11:12 AM

If you were in their shoes, which would you prefer?

A) Be the 3rd string QB and get very limited reps, likely avoid a redshirt

or

B) Be 4th string running the Scout Team and get a lot more reps going against our D.

I kind of think B would be the better spot for preparing for the future.

At this point, I think both are still hoping for better than third string.

I hope Bryant RS

I think he is the QB of the future/post DW4

I hope Bryant RS as well, but I believe his upside is tremendous even as a freshman. If Watson were to be injured, I'd imagine the coaches could design an offense much like that run by Auburn focused on the read-option which would allow him to best use his athleticism and running ability, without placing too much pressure on his throwing ability and coverage recognition.

I'd definitely want to push for playing time

Cuz if I redshirted, and zerrick cooper comes along, then I would be the backups backup battling not only the backup and the starter but a talented frosh as well.

I'd rather have A with no game reps. At that point in my carrier the extra time with the coaches would be more valuable than practice reps in an offense that's not mine, and against a defense that is. No game reps would mean I could keep the redshirt. If the redshirt is a required loss then probably B but there is a psychological advantage in play since you're in direct competition with a player in the same year which may make A the more valuable option. So if redshirt is an option in both I take A, if not its a toss up.
