As long as the O keeps clicking we will. But if we have to depend on the D in a game that's another story.

If we Run the table it all depends on FSU losing one more. If we win the division we win the conference.. i dont see anyone on the other side that could beat us. I think GT had the best opportunity.. So it would be the orange bowl.. However if FSU doesn't lose another one then I think we could get an at large BCS bid.. That's highly unlikely though given that Clemson doesn't get ANY respect from anyone outside the Clemson family. So it could also end up being the Chick Fila bowl.. Which is the second best bowl for the ACC.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

True but at large bids also go to schools that travel well

Oct 11, 2012, 1:39 PM

And Clemson is still a good FB school, a recognized brand, and one of the better traveling fan bases around. All of these are factors that helped VT get into a BCS bowl last year and could work to our advantage, especially when we crush SC at home.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson would be ranked higher than VT last year, as well

If Clemson runs the table, they'd probably be at or around #5 by that time. Hard to keep us out of the BCS then.

Agree above ^^^^^^with Clemson Fans traveling well. If we win out and the coots are undefeated or a 1 loss team when we beat them I believe they'd have to put us in a BCS at large if fsu wins out.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson would almost def get an at-large BCS

if they run the table. I don't really think there's any question of that.

aren't required to pick up another team from that conference, they're allowed to pick from the pool of at-larges.

Almost (but no) / Peach or so

Considering our schedule; we better run the table.

Oct 11, 2012, 2:30 PM

We only have one tough game remaining, the coots, and most on the board agree the coots are overrated. Given the talents of our players and coaching staff, should we expect anything less?

losing to FSU, and agreeing on the $50mil exit fee to remain in the ACC and be obligated to a way below average football conference.

No we should'nt expect anything else. Our schedule is very favorable.

I also am not so sure the coots are overrated. The next 2 weeks will tell a big part of that story. Go ahead and blast LSU but if the coots offense can move the ball against them they are a pretty good team. You cant dismiss uga as not being a good offensive team and the coots defense completely manhandled them.

I think strength of schedule comes into play when you talk about at-large BCS and that's where the problem comes in. Here's who the remaining opponents (excluding USC) have beaten:

Virginia Tech: Georgia Tech, Austin Peay, Bowling Green
Wake Forest: Liberty, UNC, Army
Duke: Florida International, NC Central, Memphis, Wake Forest, Virginia
Maryland: William & Mary, Temple, Wake Forest
NC State: UConn, South Alabama, Citadel, Florida State

Even with running the table I'm not sure the SOS is helped that much.
So I'll say win the ACC and go to the Orange.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's a lot of football to be played

Oct 11, 2012, 8:13 PM

And also be concerned about at Duke - a tough challenge for us.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Can the Tigers win out?

Oct 11, 2012, 8:39 PM

Hate to sound pesimistic(sp)-but..as of right now.
I can't see us winning out; Ok,first off..its no
secret that Clemson's defense is basicly..."BAD"
and in my opinion, for the offense to carry us through
an entire season, they will have to steadily keep
getting better. We will basicly need,IMO..a top 5 national
offense to even give us a chance. But hey, thats just me.
