With that kind of class, he's going to stick out like a sore thumb in the SECheat. Thank you for everything you did for Clemson University Coach Venables.

Hopefully he does stick out like a sore thumb in that cesspool AKA secheat. I do believe him, for those who know him personally, they believe him, as well. I wish him well as he goes forward, and I hope he wins lots of games against anybody not named Clemson.

And, that explains why Oklahoma is now my favorite SEC team. I hope they win the Big 12 every year until they leave and I hope they win the SEC the first year they join.

It's a little late for that. The decommitments have already signed with other schools.

Never to late to do the right thing. Even if you are sure it won’t change an outcome. The youth of our country are oblivious to this, thus we spin deeper into the abyss.

of this country... when children are born, they are an empty page to careful filled with the goodness of what human beings are to be, and only literate adults should be writing on those pages, but of course, the illiterate adults unfortunately cannot write anything of moral value, and here we are...
Unless you want to rephrase "the youth..." to "far too many of our youth..."

^^Didn't read the article^^
Coach V said he HAD--past perfect tense--told them to rethink their decommitments.
Guys going to Bama and UGa (not sure about U of M) don't get the same level of commitment from their HC as from Dabo. If all they did was commit to their 2nd choice without understanding the idea "we will continue to try to recruit a better player than you", they may be in for a rude awakening.
Coach V addressed that, too.

Nah you can include UM in there as well. Harbaugh was either getting canned or taking a pay cut at the end of last year. Harbaugh tries to do whatever it takes to get a guy to commit (have a sleepover with the player ?? and hiring a players HS coach that’s like a father to them are two of what I’m sure are many tactics he’s used). I wouldn’t say he’s a bad person but I wouldn’t trust him and think he’s very shady.

Dadgum straight. 18yr old kids may be smart but don’t have wisdom or see how many adults would use them and turn around and tell them “you should have done your homework, sorry kid, welcome to the real world.” Fans and coaches alike need to help them, not run them through the ringer for being taken advantage of.

While we don't like their decommitments, we should not wish them ill-will. And, if you do like you have, it reflects very poorly on Clemson.

I think that’s awesome by Coach V. Good advice to the players. BUT….idiotic posts wishing the kids ill or miserable careers is pathetic and classless. Why can’t an 18 year old change his mind? Why can a 50 year old man leave for another job but a high school senior can’t make a change in their decision? And….why do some judge those that do so pathetically yet celebrate when we flip a recruit and cheer for others to flip? Be a bigger person critics! Follow Coach V’s lead….have some class.

18 vs 50???
Dec 15, 2021, 10:05 PM
|
|
You are comparing apples to oranges. A kid is not mature enough to make those kinds of decisions. A 50 year old man is. Those kids were not smart enough to realize what they were doing because they were enticed by the almighty NIL dollar. Additionally I don't feel that Clemson should ever attempt to recruit an IMG player regardless of their talent. Something stinks with IMG and the whole system in general...

COMMITTED means
Dec 16, 2021, 8:53 AM
|
|
"bound or obligated to a person or thing, as by pledge or assurance; devoted" My biggest argument is when you make a commitment you don't decommit the very week you are to sign (giving Clemson zero time to find other players). Their actions are suspicious and as unprofessional as I have ever seen. I'm sure Dabo is really angry although he will never admit it. BV was spot on with his analysis also. Additionally, this is one of many reasons NIL will destroy college football. Money and greed will undermine the intended purposes of what going to college REALLY means...

So, why are Venables and Elliott not committed to stay
Dec 16, 2021, 12:18 PM
|
|
when they were recruiting these players to come to Clemson? Do you not think that they spoke to the recruits and their parents about being committed to coaching and mentoring these players for the next few years of their college career? Or do you think they told them of the very real possibility that they may not be their coach when they get to campus?
This is only a discussion, but very reflective of the entitlement that accuses and points the finger at the players while not realizing that three of your own fingers are pointing right back at you...

Jeff Scott needs to prove that he can have a winning season at USF before being considered for bigger jobs — much less Clemson.

Like one of my posts earlier…..he is specifically talking about Uga in this quote. 50 “de-commits” in the last 5 years- many on NSD to make room for that better person that came along. These kids aren’t de-committing, they are forced out. Kirby has been selling his soul to get that Natty.

I think he'll do well. It's easy to see why he was our best recruiter that Clemson has ever had. Kids and parents connect. I even predict he may change the secheat. When they see him doing so well, they'll want to copy it.

Thank you coach V! Another reminder of how CDS does it the right way. It will help us in the long run with this kind of information being put out there, that Clemson stops recruiting once a commitment is made. That’s integrity and it does matter.

Makes me think about Texas and Neon Deon down there at JSU paying players and how Coach V is gonna stand up at a team meeting and say “If you are here just to get paid, there is the door-get out of my locker room, you aren’t part of Oklahoma football anymore.” Bet.

So where are all the posters who bad mouthed BV and called him names last week? Got your mouths full of crow?? I fully believed he was doing the right thing right up to the end of his time with Clemson and being completely honest and transparent with Dabo and recruits throughout the process and it sounds like that is exactly what he did.

Coach V and Swinney are cut from the same cloth. Any fan of Clemson should feel proud of the way they recruit. Upfront, honest, and transparent. We may lose a few commits, but in the long run those values will continue to serve this university! Go Tigers!
