What a stupid bull-chit article to say "Trump's SBA." The SBA, which has nearly been canned quite a few times over the years, is just another example of a bloated over-controlling bureaucracy that the left loves to create.

The Federal Gov't has on average about a 1% turnover rate. Sure a few heads of agencies may change with a new administration, but the same bozo bureaucrats that always ran the place still run the place after the new sheriff comes to town.

This is another of the million reasons the gov't should be smaller, not larger. Corruption, waste, fraud, and abuse are always going to occur. The only way to limit it is by limiting the size of gov't itself.

Oh, yeah, totally, a smaller SBA with less oversight

capability and power should solve the problem of churches and other businesses defrauding the government at the expense of people in desperate need.

No doubt there are some crooks in the religion business. However, the true church, true followers of Jesus Christ make an incredible difference in people’s lives. Jesus tells me to help widows and orphans (poor) and it’s not to be pushed off to the government. Therefore, I would ask everyone regardless of political affiliation , what are YOU doing for the poor? Voting for the party you think will help the most does not count!!!

Some yes, and they will receive their due. Have you considered my question? What will you personally do to help the less fortunate? Christmas time is a great time for all to consider their personal efforts.

But by in large private charities and church organizations only account for about 10% of what the government provides in the form of food assistance and welfare. Myself have only donated a couple hundred dollars this year, so not much on my end.

Thanks for your honesty. Maybe we can all step it up this year.

I don't know who specifically took what, but there are some

scary numbers to consider. There is enough graft and waste in this to, literally, float a battleship in dollars. One trillion dollars is close to $3000 for every man, woman and child in the US. Its about $6000 for every person in the workforce. That's just for one, and we have spent what on this, five or six of them? How much of it did you get?

Somebody check my math on that, but I think its right; its easy to loose track of the zeros. If we start looking at thievery in this, I don't see how everyone's sacred cows are not going to get exposed.

So about those sacred cows. I don't know about Osteen. But as a follower of Jesus, if I cheat on my 1040 I expect to get caught and expect to have whatever punishment is due applied to me. If I fraudulently apply for govt disability I expect to get caught and to have whatever punishment is due to be applied to me. If Osteen or anyone else has stolen any money, I would expect the same. It's as simple as that, I think.

If I was talking with him one on one I might say something else, and it mostly wouldn't be about money.

As to whether church employees should get ppp money, its an interesting subject. If not, then the govt can't tell them they can't operate as normal. It's one or the other, is it not? I'm not sure what I think about a church that refuses to abide by a shut down order, but they certainly have no right to get ppp money. In or out, no?

Are these loans, or free money? Did they actually break the rules? Was it legal, but bad optics? Splain this. I read the article, but still don’t know what the crime was.

If they are obeying God let Him defend them. I take no part in it.

My church has used the fund to pay

Dec 17, 2020, 6:52 AM

janitorial staff and keep them employed. We do have a Daycare facility out of our church too, so that keeps the janitorial staff busy, but its all one entity, so with daycare being down about 30% and church functions basically not happening, we decided to use them to pay staff, not clergy staff but janitorial and office staff to answer phones, do billing, etc..

I bet "most" churches did the same. I am not at a rock band mega church, but we are a large church, so if someone saw the amount that we got, they would probably have knee jerk reaction too. But with giving down roughly 30% and a mortgage and staff to keep employed, it was needed.

I will never defend mega churches or people like Osteen. I tend to believe they do more harm than good.
