Bent not Broken

Jan 21, 2015, 5:03 PM

I haven't been able to post or frequent my beloved Tnet as much as I normally would, so thought I would drop in and give a few updates.
The past week and a half has honestly been terrible. Wish I could describe it as something else, but that is what it's been. There were moments that I felt like I was standing at the threshold of hell or either Ashton Kutcher was reviving his show Punk'd and I was the premiere episode. Now, it's like I'm in the movie Ground Hog day....lol. (Always have loved Bill Murray).

My daddy who broke his (C2, C6, and C8) a week ago was finally moved from the hospital to a short-term nursing home rehab facility. He is not paralyzed, thank the Lord, but could not have surgery, so recovery is super slow due to the dangerous area of the break (base of his brain stem.)

My mama, who had just been discharged from the hospital 3 days before my daddy's wreck, with a bone marrow transplant is hanging. Physically her levels are rising, but she still has 2 more weeks of no visitors, no public places.....meaning she still cannot see my daddy and risk exposure. She has to have someone with her 24/7 bc her body is still weak and took a bad tumble this morning and busted her head open. Thank God nothing was broken and we could contain the bleeding even though her platelet count is borderline.

My sister was able to fly in for a few days to help, but had to return to Florida, so I have had my hands full to say the least. Not with just their physical conditions, but financials, insurance companies, the VA...you name it. And I am trying to work and keep up my family of 2 small kids and the Coot hubs. ?? And, I must say the hubs has been remarkable during all of this.
So....I am a little bent, but not broken. You have to keep getting up right? I mean who else is going to rag the Coot hubs about us getting Fields and Womens basketball being the premiere sport. Lol.
In all seriousness, please continue to lift my parents (Terry and Kaye) up and if you could throw a few in for this Tigerchick, I would greatly appreciate it.

quick and safe recovery for both of your parents, as well as yourself. I know your focus is on them, but don't forget to take care of you as well. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Word of advice: Do not go outside on a cloudy day. You do not have any good luck at the present time.`

My prayers are for an extra dose of comfort for everyone . . . Even the coot hubs! I am my parents only child close by and, although it can be difficult, I consider it a privilege to be able to help them now. I'm sure you have discovered the same. Here's to brighter days ahead. God bless!

I will certainly keep you in prayer, Tigerchick. Remember…God never gives you more than you can handle. I know that is hard to remember sometimes, but it is true. Keep the faith. Keep us updated. We care.

Like you, I have had some hard times. Philippians 4:6-7 was really helpful to me.

the bones will heal. Your pops will rehab and be good to go. Sounds like mom is doing way better too. You def were dealt a hard hand to work with, but keep your head up and, not to be cliche, but just do your best today and try not to worry about the bigger picture.. hopefully your folks are reunited before you know it.
