The best news from the ND announcement was the

statement about revisiting the 9-game league schedule. ND already plays between 2-4 ACC teams every year as it is in football, and it'll be nice having them on the schedule every now and then with the added commitments. That lost home game every other year in the ACC though is a big blow to us and the other football powers - no getting around that one. If this can be remedied as part of this new relationship then I'm all for it. Perhaps we can also fix the non-sensical division alignments while we're at it, but fixing the 9th game right now is crucial.

and the other 11 are excited and pushed for it.

Now that the exit fee is $50M, what incentive is there for the other 11 ADs to change their minds?

Most of you.

That is a good point.

While I've been mostly positive about the whole ND/ACC deal, I even think the $50 mil buyout is a good thing because it stabilizes the conference.

The ONE thing that "snook" by most yesterday is, Swoffie said it was up to the AD's top revisit this, and you're right, only 3(GT,Cu and FSU) have the motive.

Round Robin schedule. Would only lose one home game every sixth year. If this agreement somehow adds another 3 million a year per team, plus opportunity for better higher paying bowls, I'd say that's a small price to pay.

I'm wondering if there might not be a stipulation allowing

for it though under the ND scenario. Just like the $50M fee was tied to the ND deal ("goes into effect immediately" comment), perhaps other programs were on board with a return to 8 league games with the current 14 programs.

For us and other programs ND simply amounts to scheduling a Home/Away with a quality OOC that takes place with a two-year gap in between games instead of the traditional 2-year span like we have coming up with UGA. We're still facing the loss of a home game every two years if we continue to try and schedule quality OOC match-ups. The difference now is that with 2-3 extra weekends each season for ESPN to tap into their ACC inventory with the bonus of ND as one of the teams, that might offset their need to have the 7 extra league contests annually that came with the 9-game schedule. Looking at the ACC, those 7 extra games stand a greater than 50/50 chance to be absolutely meaningless on a national scale, while a ND game will at least have the attention of ND's base.

I would settle for a wash in terms of league revenue if it meant we go back to 8 league games.
