I've said about 78 times on here that I'm not okay with surgeries for kids, and I've done in threads that you've been in.

I really don't recall anyone here advocating for gender change surgeries. Someone made a ridiculous thread calling me out for something along those lines not long ago, claiming someone finally did support it, but then it turns out they were just willfully lying about that person's opinion. I can't even remember who made that stupid thread.
But no, I don't think anyone here advocates kids getting these surgeries. It should be 18 and up, IMO.

I'm comfortable with surgical transitions being delayed until the child is closer to the age of 18, but I'd rather that the parent, child, and their medical team be the ones making these decisions, even if I would personally discourage a certain decision. I certainly don't need a bunch of yahoos in a state house telling these families what is best for them when it comes to medical decisions. (To some degree, my approach is similar to that on abortion - a family does not need me inserting my opinion into their personal medical decisions.)
But I don't believe in withholding other medical treatments - I don't think the government should interfere with a families decision to use pubertal blockers. When the government tries to do that, it is doing nothing less than actively attempting to make a difficult process even more difficult for the person in question.
The Tnet trans-obsessed have what kind of medical backgrounds? But they are all to happy to claim that they know more than the medical community and have the knowledge to overrule the medical consensus. (I am kind of curious how many of them have actually genuinely known any trans people, but I digress.) These same folks act as if people treat these things as casual decisions, which is insulting to the people dealing with these issues. "He couldn't make the mens team so he just wants to make the womens team instead. Derp, derp, derp!" People want to be treated like they have serious opinions when they act like maroons.

response.
I do like the idea of less government intervention - let the parents make health decisions for their kids. BUT - I do think that kid's craniums aren't developed enough to know what-the-what yet. And - I also think that some parents are getting into too big of a hurry to appear accepting of their kid's "life choices" (when the kids aren't old enough to be making life choices yet).
There's something about allowing a kid to make that call that doesn't set well with me.

I certainly don't disagree with that and absolutely want the parents involved.
But (and I know I mentioned) this bill does ban pubertal blockers which seems needlessly cruel to me. So much research shows that so many people knew at a very young age that they were gender dysphoric, so I'd rather us use some medical science to help them sooner.
I think it is more than a semantic difference to say that this is not a life "choice."
KFF did the first major survey of trans people. I posted a link a couple of months ago. But one of the key takeaways was that two-thirds of trans adults (66 percent) say they were younger than 18 when they began to understand that their gender was different from their sex assigned at birth, including 32 percent who became aware of it when they were 10 or younger. I think some young people know more than others, which is why I think this should be left in the hands of the families and their doctors rather than legislatures who want a one-size-fits-all approach.

brains weren’t fully developed under age 26.
But they’ll transition a 8 year old, lol.
Excerpt from their parole board for youngans:
“The idea of a youth offender parole hearing is based on scientific evidence showing that parts of the brain involved in behavior control continue to mature through late adolescence and that adolescent brains are not yet fully mature until a person is in his or her mid-to-late 20s. Specifically, the area of the brain responsible for impulse control, understanding consequences, and other executive functions is not fully developed until that time.”
No wonder liberals don’t know what secs they are; their whole belief system is a continual contradiction.
