Son’s 3rd grade teacher called me today

Teacher made me aware of an ‘incident’ at school where my son made a chubby girl cry. The story goes as follows:
This little girl tried to get classmates to call my son ‘Cheeto head’ (because he has red hair). And kept pushing it.
First my son tried to shut it down by telling her to stop. Then told her to only call him by his real name. After she wouldn’t stop, he then asked if his hair makes her hungry.
Girl cried to teacher. Then cried to mom at pickup who demanded to talk to teacher and principal about fat shaming.
I laughed at story, confirmed my son did nothing wrong, then enjoyed a nice meal with him at ChickFilA.

one of the saddest things in the world to me

is a fat child. Breaks my heart. If a kid is obese at age 10...13...18....that child has almost no chance to live a healthy life. What are they gonna be at 30 or 40 or 50 (IF they make it to that age). Diabetes and hypertension aren't good things to eat your way to.
It's really a form of child abuse to allow a kids weight to get out of control. So is reinforcing the notion that it is "OK" to be obese, which seems to the standard of the modern day.

Knew skinny kids who are fat adults. Michael Jackson is proof you can grow up to be anything you want to be. Sky's the limit.

everyone is nowadays, especially kids. If I pull out my middle school and HS yearbooks, no one is fat except for a couple kids. It was the exception not the norm.

Similar situation for my daughter but it didn't go to

the teacher.
My daughter and a friends' son have been in the same class since they were 3. Started Montessori together and then sept getting in the same class. Well, he has become somewhat of an as>##### to others, including my daughter, which was kangfirmed by his mom. We go to the beach with them every year as well, spend a week in the house with them. He pissed my daughter off last year at the beach and she called him "fatty" which we chewed her out for it. She knew it was wrong, but he was nagging at her and she retaliated in a real mean-spirited way. FFW to this year, and they are in class and get tests handed back to them. He asks Daughter what she made, it was an 85. He made a 98 and then proclaimed that he was obviously smarter. He did this in front of some other people, so Daughter-of went for the kill. Instead of calling him fat this time, she reminded him that he didn't qualify for MERIT classes at first while she did (or something like that, details are unclear on my end). We handled it by making her apologize to him, it is her friend, but in the apology she brought up him being an as>#####. Kids are mean AF and my daughter is really sweet until you insult her too much, then she goes in for the kill.

One thing I have noticed is usually the fat kids are either
Nov 16, 2021, 8:22 AM
|
|
the target of bullying, or become the bully themselves.
And if it's a female fatty kid, holy #### that's going to be the biggest ##### you've ever met in your life.
My grandmother keeps a little girl who is 4 and is wearing a size 8. She can barely see her god #### face is so ####### fat
I hate her parents for putting that child in that situation.
Then they are concerned about her not eating enough.
But I'm the ####### for saying "lulz, look at her"

Much like Qui Gon says "there's always a bigger fish,"

the opposite holds, too. There's always a smaller fish to pick on.
As a former fat kid, I can assure you, the bully transference is real. Fat kid gets picked on at school. Fat kid probably also hears it at home, either from parents that have good intentions (want to get the kid to lose weight) or a sibling or whatever, so fat kid has no place that they can feel OK about themselves.
So....fat kid finds someone else to pick on to both "look cool" to the original bullies and to try to make themselves feel better.
It's real. And I openly admit I was part of the cycle.
