Sandstorm is the worst. But is it a song? I always consider it noise pollution.

But, music is very subjective because I despise Bruce Springsteen and anything that he puts out.

Bruce Springsteen:
Music (particularly classic): LOVE
Politics: HATE
I separate the two.

I would put myself in the category of "grudgingly" liking some of Springsteen's stuff. "Bawn in the USA" I literally can't stand, and change radio stations anytime it comes on. On the other hand, I love "Promised land". Probably because of the line "Working all day, in my daddy's garage", which I did a lot of growing up.

Tiger Rag!!!!
Fun conversation. Think it depends a lot on how to define a sports song. I don’t think just because a song gets played at sporting events it qualifies as a sports although I respect others may disagree. So for me songs like “deer Caroline” or “sandstorm” or “zombie nation” wouldn’t qualify
Centerfield is an awesome song clearly about sports. But I’d go with “we are the champions “

Additional votes for songs played at sports arena since there aren't too many songs ABOUT sports:
7 Nation Army: White Stripes
Blitzkrieg Bop: The Ramones
Jump Around: House of Pain
Rock and Roll, Parts 1 and 2 (the "Hey" song); Gary Glitter.

There is a difference between a sports song and a song that
May 7, 2021, 11:04 AM

is often associated with sports. I doubt Queen ever thought 'We are the Champions' would be played at sports events and I KNOW Neil Diamond didn't sing 'Sweet Caroline' with the idea it would be sung in sports arenas. 'Chariots of Fire' theme really wasn't written to be associated with running either. 'Lunatic Fringe' by Red Rider, to me, is a wrestling song due to it being in Vision Quest so prominently, but it isn't really a sports song. Neither is the Rocky theme or 'Winning' by Santana.
Centerfield is the winner almost by default, though it is a great song.
'The Greatest'by Kenny Rogers is also a fun sports song. 'Baseball' by Sam Baker is also very good.
Honestly can't think of too many others that haven't been mentioned.

Hard to top John Fogerty of CCR fame! Has a better songwriter / musician ever written a sports song?

I have to go back to the :16 timeout in Tampa - rising up to the challenge of our rival as Tiger Band played Eye of the Tiger.

Centerfield. Great song that invokes the smell of leather, freshly cut grass, and popcorn.
