His slow-footed legacy is that he kept the ACC behind the curve on everything during his excruciatingly overextended tenure.

He was a very poor commissioner but....

When Miami and VT came into the conference sports media flooded TV, radio, and print saying the ACC had surpassed the SEC as the top football conference. No one in their right mind could've predicted what UM, VT, and FSU turned into.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

I am old enough to remember the decades the ACC went with Racon, a two bit outfit out of NC with limited exposure and TV draw. Our Ex Commish gave us this beauty. It was his first step is setting us back. Racon could not even cover the ACC footprint as small as it was back then. Don't know if true, but always heard a consistent rumor that his son was a VP at Racon. While others were flocking to ESPN and other networks when College Football became apparent as a big money draw, he tied us up with this joke of network from NC.
And just to prove how inept he really was, he negotiated a mediocre TV contract with ESPN for what at the time was already non-competive with every other conference. Now, the ACC is even more visibly the red headed step child when viewing ESPN. ESPN gets top announcers, top slots, their site has direct links and tabs to SEC and where is the support for ACC on this site. Certainly not equal or even close to SEC.
To make matters worse, and illustrated by where we are today, this ####### negotiated a bad contract with ESPN which we are bound to through 2036. Yes, 2036. Hell, even if it is a good contract no one in their right mind goes out that far - especially when you know your contract is non-competitive and the landscape is changing enough that you want your options open. He buried us and put us where we are.
