If you want to sound like a native South Carolinian there's a P in ClimPson.
If you want to sound like a Yankee there's a Z in ClemZen.
If you want to say it phonetically correct there's no P or Z.
I've never read how Thomas Green Clemson pronounced his own name, but I doubt he said it with a P since he was originally from Pennsylvania and can only hope he didn't slide that dadburn Z in there.

I don't know how they get that out of Ferrell. Should it not be Fair-rell?

One announcer said (I think during the Cotton Bowl) if he tackles you twice it's Re-Ferrell.

Clelin specified in a press conference this year that the first part of his last name is pronounced "fur", instead of "fair". All announcers adjusted their pronunciation after that.

I'm convinced some announcers do it just to irritate Clemson fans.
(Refer to President Bush saying "Sad-um" during the Gulf War.)
