“DJ’s Best Game”

I agree, I think he made some nice throws, didn’t turn the ball over, ran the ball reasonably well. All in all, his best game this year.
On the other hand, the reference to which we are comparing is relatively poor, so it’s not saying a lot, really.

DJU has done a good job of protecting the football. For all his accuracy problems, his balls rarely end up in the hands of the defense.

He’s improved every week since Georgia. The trend is in the right direction. Not exactly what we want, but trending upward.

but until DJ is responsible for missed catches, wrong routes, defensive penalties, and offensive line play, we’ll have to rely on logic as it applies to that trend.

He played better. His pocket presence was better, he ran better and scrambled better than previous games. He’s got a long, long way to go, but saying he didn’t play better overall is your preference, not a fact. If you want to blame it all on DJ, live in that camp. Don’t really care, but you’re wrong and can’t prove otherwise.

Sorry, thought you were aware what the perception here is of you.
If you objectively read and comprehended the OP then my response to it, then to you, you’ll have your answer. I said 0 about his numbers. I spoke to tangibles like his mechanics and decisions having improved. You turned it into his completions, which are predicated on more factors than DJ. It’s pretty obvious what you are doing, hence your reputation.

Well he did play better and if Ross catches that 50 yard pass that hit him right in the hands . Even his overall stats would have shown improvement

My personal opinion is that DJ was just shell shocked during and after the Georgia game and it caused him to lose a lot of confidence in himself. I think having to face that defense with an offensive line with limited experience and still trying to mesh has taken him some time to get over. I agree that this was his best game so far this year and if the WR can help him out by catching the balls that are within their catch radius I hope he will continue to improve and we can still salvage a reasonably good season. I do think that the defense better be ready next week at Pitt because if they cannot control Pitt’s offense it may get ugly

198 yds on 36 attempts is nothing to write home about. 314 yds total offense is dismal against an average team.

At this point KB is better than DJU. Better feet and more accurate on short to intermediate throws. If DJU doesn’t improve he will be one of our bigger recruiting busts. On the other hand, KB’s o line was probably better thanDJ’s. So that has to be added to the equation.

The O-line which supported KB was MUCH MUCH better than the still-in-development 2021 OL.
When H.Rayburn gets back the OL play will magically get much better. But even when Rayburn gets back, the 2021 OL (at its best) will not be close to the 2017 OL.
DJ at this point is ~ to KB; but DJ (which many will refuse to see) has FAR better upside as a passer.

I thought he did. I thought he had the potential to be an NFL star. But we're 6 games in, and he's the fourth worst QB statistically in the entire country, and the worst in the P5. We can't keep pining after what he was last year. I don't know if he no longer cares as some think, if he's lost the team like others think, or if Streeter ruined his mechanics (which is what I lean towards considering how Trevor got worse as a passer the more time he spent with Streeter). But it doesn't really matter. We have a large sample size, and he's not getting it done. Clemson is the third most talented offense in the entire country, but it's one of the very worst, despite playing a middling schedule outside of UGA, who decimated them.
I did not like Kelly Bryant at all (I knew early on, when others were talking him up, that he might win regular season games but would completely fail against Bama), but he was a better QB than DJ is right now. I agree the 2017 offensive line was far, far better, but Kelly Bryant was better statistically than DJ playing with Missouri against SEC teams, not Syracuse and GT. I think we've come to a point where we need to move on. Whatever his upside might be, he's not going to hit it with this Clemson team.
