My NCAA Bracket...

For the first time in about 35 years or so, I am not filling out a bracket for the NCAA basketball tournament. It's not because Clemson is not in the tournament (they usually are not in it), it's simply because I don't care any more. It seems college sports has lost interest with me. I have already written off the NFL and the NBA years ago. I think I have grown too cynical over the past few years. I am going to change my way of thinking about sports in general beginning with the college football season in 2022. I am going to forget about politics, money, greed, the transfer portal, NIL, records, and coaching decisions, so I can try and enjoy all sports once again. It's time to stop worrying about things I have no control over. I'm tired of sports no longer being fun to watch... I am the problem, and I do have control of me. Go Tigers!!!

Right there with you Pig. But not filling out a bracket seems counterintuitive to your further arguments you listed. Unless of course you're saying you are writing off college basketball... Other than golf, very few professional sports I watch. I'll watch an NFL game if a Clemson player is on.
But college sports are exciting. We probably differ in that I am a conference homer as you guys say. I would love to see VA Tech in the final 4. Same goes for dook, Miami, UNC, and kinda ND. Although ND only slightly. Mainly from a perspective that the better those teams do, the more it benefits Clemson.

Come football season, I'm gonna be all-in for every sport again. I'm taking a break until then. But I'll still pull for all Tiger sports until then. Go Tigers!!!

I am glad you have come to that conclusion. I will admit I got burnt out myself when sports started to become more about activism than the actual play on the field the past couple of years, but recently I have started to get into things more. The NFL hardly has any politics that goes on now and the product they put on the field is great. If anyone is still complaining about the NFL, they have not been paying attention lately. Overall, I think most sports are starting to come back around now that full crowds are back and there is more energy overall. I like your idea that you can only control yourself and not what everyone else is doing, so don't let everyone else ruin it for you. It would be great if everyone could come around to having a similar mindset to yours. Go Tigers!

+1. Good call Pig®. Your post struck a chord. The way I see it is the best athletes have abilities that are legit. The best boxer wins. The best football team usually wins. The best miler wins. These are pure competitions.
Now I could care less what most athletes think about politics, world events or social parameters. Some are smart, and some are ignorant beyond measurement. But in that arena, they represent the best of the best, and the competitions and usually the outcomes (unless the refs get in the way) are authentic. This makes sports events worthwhile interests IMHO.
Who is truly the best lawyer? The best doctor? The best program manager? The best plumber? The best brick layer? The best mechanical engineer? Hard to say. If a working man or woman is earning a good living, he or she is doing well for their family. Good on them. But sporting events provide a real measuring stick on this planet, and the athletes who distinguish themselves on the field or court are worth a look.
I'm not getting any younger myself. And all that news/opinion B.S. clutter just gets in the way. Sports and athletic competitions are real. We get older, but the athletes keep getting younger. Go Tigers!
