I just checked. Next announced meeting is 9/7-8.
They could still announce that a meeting could be held before 8/15, but as of tonight nothing has been announced.

Clemson and FSU isn’t going anywhere before the 8/15/23 deadline. Once that date comes and goes I hope this board goes back to talking football.

I may be mistaken but think the 08/15 deadline is to simply let the ACC know of their intentions so they would not be locked in to the 2025 season. Given the required two-year notice, if they wait until next year, they would already be locked in to the 2025 season. I am sure someone would correct me if I misunderstood.

Yes 8/15 is the deadline to give notice. I'm not sure how many years out the notice is though.

Bret, what do you think is really going on here?

Were the public comments from the President, AD, even BOT members simply screaming out loud in the wilderness due to frustration with the GOR or do they have some sort of plan? They took the unprecedented step of speaking very openly to the media about wanting out of the ACC but there doesn't appear to be any viable solution.

My guess. And, that is all it is, a guess.

I don't have a brother who knows the cousin of the barber that cuts the hair of the best friend of the wife of a board member.
So, with that said, here is what I think is happening.
1. The FSU administration has a plan. All the statements, starting last Thursday, were made with forethought and were very intentional. The chairman of the board said in an interview, very much on the record, that he started working on the situation the day TX and OU announced they were heading to the SEC. "Spoiled by 4th of July vacation. Spent the whole weekend on the phone talking to people."
2. The FSU administration knows where they will end up, and it won't be the ACC. They would never make the public comments they have made if they didn't. I am pretty confident they have been told by either the SEC or B1G, "We will accept your application to join just as soon as you submit it. Figure out how soon you can leave the ACC and let us know."
3. FSU is not a lone wolf. There are other schools, possibly only Clemson but more likely at least two more, who are working in close contact with FSU and all of them are in agreement and following the same plan.
4. The negotiations, and I have no idea of the details, are getting close to being completed. No way the BOT would have held a public meeting and every single member made a statement saying they were in agreement with the President and AD and chairman that FSU had to leave the ACC in order to remain competitive. It was no coincidence that they announced a day or two after that meeting they were working with a private equity company exploring how to be able to afford to get out of the ACC.
5. I sure don't know the timing. I think it's about 40% that something will be announced on or before 8/15. But, I think it is about 90% that it will be announced before next 8/15, which means that FSU will be out of the ACC by the 2025 season.
6. I fully expect FSU and Clemson will be a package deal, like TX/OU and USC/UCLA and will have a joint departure to whichever conference (SEC or B1G) they are headed to.
Remember, all of the above is just my guess. It's not a rumor I've heard or one I'm starting. Just my guess based on all the information I've seen.

Seems reasonable and I appreciate your take on it. I too believe that FSU and Clemson are tied at the hip on this. For whatever reason, and it really doesn't matter why, we're letting FSU take the lead on the sabre rattling and that's fine with me.

I think you're closer to being right than anybody else on here bc, Dabo knows that something is going to happen bc of the comments he made when he talked about it last week or so, and we all know that he has always stayed away from that subject until recently when he talked about the changes!!!
