Move a RB to tight end? Thoughts?

Apr 11, 2015, 11:30 PM

We have big backs that could potentially block and catch well, I think it would be a good move. Especially with us getting Tavien next year.

No but I would like to see brooks moved to WR. Great hands, not a natural runner and is going to get buried at RB. Even though we have a solid 1,2 at WR and a good 3,4 he could mix it up and get significant suing time. We have two more 5 stars coming in but with us playing 3 and 4 receivers at 80 plays a game I think it would be best. He might even surprise a little. Thoughts?

I think Brooks is about as much of a tweener as I've seen. He's just not a RB or a WR. I don't think visualizing him in either box is helpful. To me Brooks is a package guy. Yes he has hands, but he isn't nearly big enough to think TE, doesn't have the wiggle to beat the bump, or the speed to really stretch the defense, but I think he is a quality situational runner and would,be a really tough matchup for an OLB in space. Lining him up inside in the spread and using him as a receiver or motioning him in as a blocker or runner is probably his best use in my opinion.

Brooks was the least impressive back in the game today. That is just my opinion and I hate to say it because I like him. He isn't big enough or strong enough to get anything going. Seems he, being a small back, would get tosses and such. They try to run him between the tackles and it isn't working.

This may seem way out there but how about Brooks at pass rusher? He's got the speed ala Victor Beastley, though I'm not sure about his size and strength.

We will be loaded at TE come fall

Apr 12, 2015, 1:17 AM

Leggett, Seck, Richard, Jay Jay, Cannon, Greenlee, and G. Williams if we needed him. No one needs to move to TE. Chalk coming in next year.

TE will be fine, most of them missed some

Apr 11, 2015, 11:50 PM

Or all of the spring. Richard's, Seckinger, Mccullough, Leggett is also recovering from a late season injury. Smith the redshirt freshman is the only one playing without a injury or didn't miss time during the spring.

None of our backs have anywhere near the size to play TE, you have to be able to block a SDE.

When everyone is back healthy in the fall we'll be fine.
