Mentioned this yesterday, but $3400.

That's the price to be able to get in and out of my garage.

New door and spring/track system. New motor. Lead disposal. The whole unit is shot.

Thanks Biden.

A couple months ago I paid $4,200 for double car, insulated metal, new tracks, quiet motor and new keypad.

In 2018 when the springs broke, the same set up was quoted at $2,000. At the time I just did the springs. I should have done it all back then.

Eh, garage door pricing has always been up and down.

Sometimes even in the same day.

My opener works, but brace is pulling away from drywall

Feb 18, 2022, 1:14 PM

Builder screwed in the supports to drywall instead of studs. I tried longer bolts hoping it would catch something eventually, but nada. Now need to engineering a bracing system to strap the supports back to wall.

Not sure if a DIY project or need to hire the pros.

Can you not re-brace it to a stud?

Feb 18, 2022, 2:54 PM

I do think someone in here has a stud finder.

That's my plan. Will need to so something like this, but also don't want to mess around and get hit by the springs.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL, he has the spring brace not attached to studs?

Feb 18, 2022, 6:31 PM

I thought you meant some of the ceiling/track braces.

Yea, shore that baby up - just don't touch the spring mechanism.

You can buy a sawzall and some blades for way

Feb 18, 2022, 1:18 PM

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Mine was $2700 for all minus the openers a few months ago

Feb 18, 2022, 4:07 PM

Had a deer tumble down the rain-slick hill of my driveway and crash into the left garage door. Had someone come out to fix it ... can't do panels. Can only do whole door because of how they stock them now.

####.

Agree to replace the door and decide to do both. That meant 2 new doors, tracks, torsion springs, add the framing on the inside of the garage for mounting the track that brings it up to the new code and disposal of the old stuff. Did not do the openers (they're noisy as ####, but still work). Did decide to get the insulated doors rather than the standard (more to keep the garage from being eleventy degrees in the summer than cold in the winter).

Stupid deer. I hope it wandered off somewhere and became buzzard food after that.

So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!
