Marcus Edmond open field tackle(s)

Huge play at the end obviously, but just as important an open field tackle by Edmond at about the 1:30 mark on Bonnafon that looked like a TD. Although it looked like he was giving him a little too much cushion, most likely be design, he still has to make that tackle or Bonnafon has one guy to beat with a lead blocker in front of him.

Speaking of downfield blocking, also noticed it was Gallman that made that block at the 5 yd line on Leggetts TD. Of course it was! Wayne train is tha man!

BV leaves a lot on the shoulders of the DB's

and luckily they're well coached tacklers. That enables BV to do what he really likes and that's to stop the run, and mess with QB's heads. We run a very aggressive defense, and that means we rely heavily on our LB's and DB's to tackle if a player gets to the second level. Obviously we did a GREAT job of that against Louisville, although ideally it would be better not to have so many necessary open-field tackles in our second level. But we make them and swarm to the ball pretty well. Only saw one or two blown plays.

I have made this comment to a number of friends, but under our current staff, one of the biggest inprovements has been our tackling. This staff does a great job of teaching fundmentals.
