Yeah and people say the system is setup for the "end of the season, all the numbers will work"

The only problem is the human voters are influenced by what the computers say. So glad this crap is gone next year.

I see Stanfraud ahead of us at that link but the Coots at 17***

I'm not talking about the ELO that the BCS uses, I'm

merely pointing out that ANY ranking that has a 2 loss team above an undefeated team, when one of the two losses is to the undefeated team is simply terrible (referring to Overall Rating, not ELO).

No, SC is 7 and Clemson 12 in the one that the BCS uses.***

what gets me is jeff sagarin states that using the pure elo

Nov 17, 2013, 10:23 AM

system, only actual wins and losses matter. yet his "system" has some two loss teams ranked higher than us, and our 1 loss is to an undefeated and #2 ranked fsu.

Geez I'm gonna go to the grave trying to get people to

Nov 17, 2013, 10:27 AM

understand that there's more to a resume than 1 loss vs 2 losses.

Do you think NIU is better than us?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

OK, i see what you are saying now, but really his statement

Nov 17, 2013, 10:31 AM [ in reply to what gets me is jeff sagarin states that using the pure elo ]

is just misleading. The ELO does use more than just wins and losses, it still factors in SoS. The only thing it doesn't do is use game scores at all. All wins and losses are weighted equally whether they are by 1 pt or 50 pts.
