conference re-alignment, as well as the ACC's future prospects. I think he's summed it up pretty well, actually. The ACC is living on borrowed time.

Screw Calford.

Jim Phillips job.

When he was first hired I said, only half jokingly, that his primary job was not to figure out how to save the conference, but to figure out how to dissolve the conference so that each school benefits as much as possible.

I'm sure that behind the scenes there is a lot of talk going on between the following groups: ACC, PAC 12, B1G, SEC, ESPN, Fox, CBS, ND, NBC.

What I don't know, but can only guess, how much talk is Phillips having with those people and the topic is, "What is the best deal I can get for everyone? If we dissolve the conference and the B1G and SEC get the teams they want, what about all the others? How many will the Big 12 take? What about the rest? What can we do for them? Y'all help me out. You want Clemson, FSU, UNC, Miami and maybe a couple more? Great. We can work that out. But, what can Cuse and BC and the others get out of this deal? We've got to offer them something."

B.C. and Syracuse can join the AAC, the MWC, or whats left of the Pac12. Maybe get some Canadian schools to start football programs and join them. Its amazing that some schools were desirable then, but dead weight now. This article from last year gives a pretty good idea of who the B1G is probably looking at. Some of the metrics they use probably are less important than they say. Its long so just look at the charts if you are short on time. One would assume the SEC is looking at most of these metrics as well.

Those schools were never desirable.

They were added under the extremely misguided notion of "market expansion", which is ludicrous since neither of them have any college football following of note, not to mention the digital age has rendered regional markets mostly moot.

But, it is still Phillips job....

.... to find the best landing spot for them. The AAC and the Sunbelt are better than the Patriot League.

Absolutely. It would be criminal to leave those schools out to dry, IMO. He will have to work to find a landing spot for the "less desirable" ACC schools, i.e., those left out of the Magnificent 7.
