I would be willing to bet that his Sweet Child of Mine

is better than his Bohemian Rhapsody. Down beat (he lost it at 3 minutes into queen). That’s one hard song to play. It’s good...but a little off. Feel. Song construction. Your mission is accomplished. I’m now searching youtube to watch his GNR cover.

As with many pianists/keyboardists, he has no respect for the downbeat. Sure, you can play melody that way by yourself, but no one will be able to play with you. There has to be a . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . It’s good. Not great. It’s just sloppy.

That’s why I only play the down beat. Literally boom! Downbeat.

Nothing but respect for the downbeat. It really is the best way to let everyone join in and play with you. And I don’t mean diddle you. I mean play their own personal musical instrument by your side. I’m all like boom, downbeat and they’re all like waaah waaah, buumpa buumpa, and rickiticky rickiticky, wham bam phlagm. It’s music to all ears. But my downbeat really holds it together!

How can I be as 7spots as you?

I’m literally 7 beers in, and I have my usual smile. Life is good. I feel amazing. I need that 7spots creative nature that makes the world a better place. Do I need to take it to 10? I want to go waaah waaah, buumpa buumpa, and rickiticky rickiticky, wham bam phlagm.

This is why I never post anything musical. You are certainly welcome to your opinion. Me personally, I never "got" Guns N Roses. At all. I think they suck. And I tend to trust my own opinion. I go back to the 70s and have been a music freak my whole life. 8-track, vinyl, cassette, etc. And live shows... I saw the Allmans when Duane & Dickie were still alive, saw The Who before Moonie died, saw Zep with Bonham, saw Floyd with the original members, etc. And have the ticket stubs to prove it, I've posted most of them before on Tnet.
Anyway, you have your opinion, I have mine. I think his piano rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody is fantastic. And I'll just leave it at that.
Likewise, it's sorta funny to see Neil Peart lamented as the greatest drummer ever. I'm not sure I even have him in the Top 5 of rock drummers. Once you expand into jazz & other genres... he falls way down the list. Buddy Rich & Joe Morello and a gazillion others were way better.

I gave you the TU. Your name is musical. Dark Side is one of the best musical recordings EVER. Obviously you like Waters and Gilmour...awesome taste, BTW. I’m so sorry if it felt like a personal attack. It’s not personal. I’m just not a fan of the free flowing keyboard technique. I can’t compliment that with my guitar...so I tend to judge on the lack of respect to time.
What you shared is definitely awesome and extremely musical. Please don’t stop sharing.

He sounds like he has 8 arms and legs. Time signature=perfect Taste a bit overboard, but fitting for RUSH songs. Super impressive fills and turn arounds. One of the most solid drummers ever. I would even be willing to say one of the best. His playing will be remembered and celebrated for decades if not centuries.
Sure, he’s no John Bonham, but that’s really just apples to oranges.
