was probably the Land Cruiser that I have. However, I think I am going to sell this Fall and get a cheaper Classic. This thing is SO expensive to have work done and the interior that I have done has been just stupid expensive. Plus, the kids' carseats are not going to work after this year, so I would have to replace the whole back section seating.....which I am absolutely not paying to refurb.
I still want a classic, but might go with something like this instead and keep it simple.

That's probably it for me. If I make it to 72, that won't be too bad.
That Indian bike is pretty sweet.
I'll be ready to buy it off of you when you realize you're too p*ssy to ride it for half what you paid for it. Then one of y'all can buy it for half of that price when I realize I'm to pu*sy to ride it.

I'm not sure there's a better looking line of bikes on the market. From the friends that have them, I gather that Indian makes a slightly more reliable bike at far more favorable price point than Harley. I'd love to have one, but it goes against my stance of adopting anything else that has to be fed gas & oil and be insured.

Been looking into getting a new mountain bike (and, also back into mountain biking, in general...that part's not so much a purchase, but I feel like it's it's def a mid-life thing)
The range of bikes I'm looking at aren't YUGE purchase expensive, but I rarely buy anything for myself, so it feels like dropping $2k+ on bike (hardtail, Obed®) + some updated gear could be 'it'. Unfortunately, bike supply these days is shorter than...well, Shorty
before this work from home adventure, SheGUAR had half-convinced me into buying a Jaguar F-Pace....some good has come from this Covid nonsense, after all, as I've driven all of 100 miles in the past 107 days, and I ain't buying a new car for that
and I've always liked those Indian bikes...the Scouts, particularly

Have you looked at Surly, Yeti Or Canyon. Could be in your price range and awesome quality.
I got a Specialized Fuse hardtail, not the Comp and it was in that range. Love the bike and rides great. I am slow, so it works. ??

but there are other bikes out there (better spec'd, lesser 'names') that are pushing it down the list....been addicted to the HardtailParty guy on youtube, like his reviews...was very high on the high-end Fuse.
haven't looked much into Surly (don't really want steel), or Yeti ($$$$)....Canyon, a little....The Neuron is probably more than I want t spend (that $2k was max WITH gear - new helmet, pedals, etc...possibly new SPD shoes if I go clipless again)
a lot of great (on paper) direct-to-consumer bikes/brands out there, and the video reviews are helpful, but nothing like putting a leg over one, or having that bike shop support

But I have a Recon SL fork on my hardtail and I've bombed it at 230lbs and it was fine... I'm around 200lb now and I have full confidence that it could handle anything my 36yr old wild asss could throw at it.
I've always gotten a kick out of building my own bikes... shopping for deals on components and putting together a franken-bike for as cheap as possible. That's mostly because I was super into the sport back in the day and broke AF college student. To do it again... probably not worth it.
I have a

currently eyeing a Polygon (australian bike co) 29+...XT (SLX Shifter, tho) + Revelation fork
for $1299 (also, out of stock til mid July, last I checked)
not thrilled w/ the red on black (but color scheme is low priority), and have been almost entirely looking at 27.5+ otherwise....but $1299? In the US, it's only online / direct to consumer, but they give you a 14 day 'trial' w/ free return
This replaced their now-discontinued Entiat T8, which was a (better "looking") 27.5.+ (maybe a little too plus at 3.0" tires)...but if this was available, we wouldn't be having this discussion, and I'd be out riding it

Hair is as long right now as it has been at any point in my life because CoronaCalamity. And I kinda like it, truth be told.

Extended family is keeping me here now. Wife is ALLIN with me on this as well. However, she sent me potential homes she would like to buy and, BYGAWD, they are all just shy of a cool million right out of the flatirons near Boulder. I would LOVE to move there, but we would have to live in a smaller place or sell drugs on the side to make mortgage payments.

consider a "she shed".
You mean like a shed where you keep women/girls chained up, right?

That runs on liberal tears and American #### and vinegar. She actually screams freedom on the rev limiter. She flips like a fainting goat and gets right back on the trail to scream Freedom again. She’s got 3 pedals and 3 sticks so she’s theft proof from all these snowflakes. They’d split their tighty britches anyway trying to get in. She don’t have a windshield or a top or doors so you can feel all the ‘Muricas!

my clutch went out last week, so that is being replaced now. hoping that is my last repair.
Have some fun the next couple of months, then see if I can sell her before storage season approaches.

That reminds me, I need a new slave cylinder
I'm currently getting a new rear drive shaft, 14 bolt shave, rear shock relocation, new high steer arms with tie rod, and new anti wrap bar. HOPEFULLY this is my last project of the year. Next year is gonna be rebuilding front links/suspension/steering, add rear seat/bars/harnesses, move fuel cell, and whatever else breaks.
