I was thinking about how do we beat Wake this weekend. It's

a tall order with the way our offense has struggled mightily all season and with the way this team has been just eaten alive with injuries. Both of these unlike anything I can remember in a long, long time.
One thing I thought about that could make a difference in our favor:
I thought back to a comment Bobby Bowden told Tommy before we played Miami one year. 2005 I think. He told Tommy something to the effect of "You've got the 12th man up there with that crowd and stadium. You really need to use them and mess them (Miami) up."
Well, that's one thing we as fans can do and really need to do this weekend. Make it as hard as possible on this Wake offense. And as the great Bobby Bowden, who knew his stuff, said -- "MESS THEM UP."

There was a time when it didn't matter how fast we scored or how much our D played, b/c we could score on anyone.
Given our struggles on offense this year, I think we'll see Clemson play the TOP game for the first time in a long time. We'll try to keep their offense off the field.

We beat Wake by eating the game clock by pounding Shipley, Pace, and Mafah, with a few passes to Shipley out the back field, and a few to Collins, Williams, and a few to what ever they feel is the best TE we have on the roster. But DJ should be limited to how many passes he throws like in a 60/40 run pass game....

I like that approach on offense, and hope our DLine can get enough push to change the line of scrimmage. Wake relies on an extended mesh exchange, but won't be able to do that if the line is collapsing into their backfield.
I trust in coach Venables to have his guys ready. I hope our offense can score enough. Turnovers will be critical too.

Long methodical scoring drives by Clemson...

(ending in TDs and not FGs) with the intend being to dominate time of possession. Eat-up as much clock as possible, keep the Wake offense off the field, and limit their possessions/scoring opportunities.
Do that and Clemson wins by at least 10.
Clemson absolutely cannot have a litany of three-and-out drives or commit a bunch of unforced errors (i.e., penalties, drops, and turnovers). No stepping on our own johnsons with golf shoes.

Well, there is only one way to beat Wake Forest this weekend, and I will quote our "brilliant" O.C Tony Elliott; "We need to score more points".

Friends who are WF alums who I really like and admire but it is beyond me why the administration is sending back their tickets for the Saturday game. If I was a WF alum I would not want that known to anyone! Here is a team nationally ranked for the first time in recent history and they refuse to lower their standards and make the trip to our cow college. If I was a Tiger player I would take this personally and never let up in this game. I’m sure their high brow fans feel like a trip to Clemson would be beneath them and choose NOT to support them. I would hate to be a player on a team with that kind of fan base.

Well Wake doesn’t have a pulse on defense so even with Clemson’s lack luster offense, I think they can hang 31. I wouldn’t be surprised if Shipley has his best game of the year. Also even with the injuries, this will be the best defense Wake has ever played in the most hostile environment they have ever played in. I think this defense can hold wake to 24-28 & the offense can put up 28-31

I agree. This will be the most aggressive defense that Wake has seen all year. Their QB isn’t rattled very often so the defensive backs will have to come ready to play from the first snap. IF our guys can establish a running game and use the clock wisely it will be a great advantage. We need for this to be the offensive linemen’s best game. If Shipley is 100% that will greatly enhance the Tigers chances. Having TP ready to play could help a lot IF he is used,. We just can’t have the passes thrown only where the cheerleaders on the sideline have a chance to catch them!!!! I’ve seen all I can handle of that this season. AND so have you!
