with the chickens in the Peach Bowl needs to turn in your man card and never attend another football game. Ever. Not very many times in life do you get a chance at redemption. If you are a Clemson fan then I'm embarrassed that you are. We don't need anymore Pandora. Apparently we have a few on the field.

s, basically. the acc is about the same now as it was in the '80's. we just have to win the big games on our schedule on a regular basis, and take care of biz. in the bowl.

7-3-1 sounds pretty darn good right now. UNC, MD, NC State, and GT (a NC) had solid programs most of the 89's.

That is a huge myth ... the teams you cite were

actually mediocre to terrible through most of the 80s.
Only Maryland and UNC had really good teams for more than a couple of seasons and both had extremely lean times in the 80s as well. NC State had a couple of pretty good teams under Sheridan and and Ga Tech had that one great year.
In no way is Danny Ford the object of my reproach. Dabo is just taking too much criticism through rose-colored comparisons by people who only bring up the best of the Danny era.
Honestly, you should look at each team's real record duing the 80s here: http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_ia/acc/clemson/index.php You'll se how many times those four teams you mention had absolutely horrible records and you'll get a much clearer picture of why Clemson dominated the conference in the 1980s.
But, if facing solid programs is what defines a coaches image ... guess what ... Now SCAR has a solid program and we play FSU every year in conference

We don't usually lose 4 in-a-row to cupcakes no matter who is coaching or what the era. For most of the 1980s South Carolina was a cupcake at the end our schedule. As pointed out in the post above, when the gamecocks rose above cupcake status, Danny usually lost to them.

no, howard, did. and we named the field after him. ford was a heck of a coach, but he lost some games he should have won, too. how many times did df face a usuc team that won 9 games in the regular season (before the clemson/usuc game)? how many times did df win 10 games, dabo has already done it twice, half the time he has been a hc. i'm not bashing on df, i'm just saying that dabo has done a pretty good job. you and your ilk need to give him some credit, where it is due. p.s. who the heck are you to tell anyone to shut the #### up? thats what i thought.

Please dont try to compare Dabo to Danny Ford, yes Danny lost a few that he should have won,but in the big games he was awesome!Danny Ford is a legend.Dabo might be a good coach one day but right now there is no comparison!

not for the national championship? None come to mind. If there have been, they are as rare as Donald Trump admitting a mistake. Bowls go out of their way to AVOID rematches. It's fruitless to speculate on a rematch.

Anyone remember how it felt a few years ago to lose twice in the CWS? Losing twice in a month in football would be exponentially worse.
No way Dabo would want a rematch. Given the number of people on this board that want him gone if he loses 5 straight - at least with that crowd he's assured another 12 months if there is no rematch in a bowl.

Jeez, folks it's all about bringing your best game once a week for 12 to 14 weeks a year. And the chips go flying and lay where they land. You win or you don't. You get your chance next year. The same as everyone else. Stanford wants a rematch with ND. FSU wants a rematch with Fla. Michigan wants rematch with Bama. Bama wants A&M again. If that works out for wanters then you got to have a rubber match. Quit whining. Rematches are insulting to both winner and loser. Next year we pluck the chicken! This year lets take care of business against a higher ranked SEC team hopefully.

I felt really good going into the game Saturday and you know what happened. The coots were beat up and they beat us with their 2nd string QB and running backs. There is no way I'd vote to play them again this year. Our D has stunk all year. Nothing is changing in a couple of weeks. I'll wait til next year.

get done in the Valley against SCs backup QB and a 85% Clowney in the "most important game in the Dabo" era, you don't go looking for another whipping from SC when they are rested and healthy.
Best to move on and look for easier pickings.

early in the third quarter, and having the ball for around 7 minutes in the second half not getting whipped, you aren't too bright either.

10 3rd and 10+ blind a$$ luck. You don't convert on 3rd and 22 in the fourth and we have the ball with 5 min left and touchdown wins it. Yeah, really whipped.

Blind luck, or defensive breakdowns...
Nov 30, 2012, 11:52 PM
|

Considering you said you are smart enough, using just your numbers, if we were to convert third downs of over 10 yards 10 times, wouldn't common sense suggest that it wasn't just luck, maybe there is a problem on your side?
Now those numbers are exaggerated, but I'm going by what you gave me.
If you want to do the what if game, be my guest, but it didn't happen. Reality is you couldn't get us off the field.
