I was extremely frustrated with the way Clemson played yesterday.

But….and I don’t want to be making excuses, but I am. I did not realize the severity of Ella Bresee’s condition. That she had suffered a major setback and was air lifted to DC yesterday morning.
My wife and daughter went to the Ladies’ Clinic in July. Ella was able to be there with her sisters and mother. My wife said that her brother watched over her and took care of her like she was a fragile doll. The whole team watched over her like she was their little sister. Dabo and Kathleen were there, making sure the whole family was looked after. Dabo said during the clinic that she was going to be there for the Furman game and they’d be doing some special things for her and the family. I can’t imagine what the Bresee family is going through now. The whole team is hurting with them and Bryan.
Let’s give this team some grace for this week. Prayers for Ella and the Bresee family. Next Saturday, I’m looking for a much more rested and focused Clemson.

I have a hard time believing that Ella’s horrible situation caused most of the players on our team to play well below their potential.
Of course we should give them grace. But using Ella’s situation as an excuse is unfair to our team, as well as the Bresee family.

Yeah, they played sloppy yesterday. But a player’s 15 year old sister is fighting for her life with a brain tumor. You, in all your know it all nature, don’t know what happened with Bresee, his family, and the team Friday-Saturday morning. I can be as tough on this team as anyone. Don’t like excuses…for football or basketball. Yet, you’ve always got one on hand for Brownell and the pathetic state of our basketball program. Just stop.

They are very capable of hurting for Brian and his family, and dealing with the emotional week, while still being able to focus on the game, blocking, tackling, catching passes, etc.
Maybe I have a higher opinion of our players than some of you do?

And thats why the majority of the board has voted to ban you. You can make your ridiculous EXCUSES for underachieving in the basketball program and make a fool of yourself over and over again, but your incessant trolling, of the highly successful cash cow and by far best sports program in Clemson history, is a poison to the board. And then when you make no-character, jack ### posts like the one about the Ella situation, it just shows how much of a loser you really are. It's time to shut you down.

18 to 23 year old and older coaches and staff dealing with a very painful difficult emotional situation on game day can and will affect your focus and ability to play at your highest level. Now couple that with the fact that you know that you are supposed to just show up and win because of the FCS competition and I can almost guarantee you will get what we saw yesterday. At halftime the outcome of the game was over so the players and coaches lost focus and became complacent.

As a retired senior noncommissioned officer with 9 deployments, I’ve saw 17-23 year olds in war losing battle buddies and drive on to complete the mission. They are more resilient than you are giving them credit for!

I just don’t think it’s impacting most of the players on our team to the point that they can’t do their jobs on the football field.
It’s unfair to our players to think that they can’t compartmentalize things. Some of the guys on our team have gone through some really rough things, and football was their escape.

Prayers for Ella and the family for sure. What people cannot grasp is that there likely be no team dominates every game this year. We are 2-0 and average scoring 38 points a game and there should be no frustration with that.

Thanks for pointing that out. In addition, the team didn’t get back from the GaTech game until 4 am Tuesday. Talking about a quick turnaround, that’s a short week. Plus, let’s give Furman a lot of credit, they had over a week to prepare, they are a senior team that is very well coached. We are 2-0. Let’s move on with our first week of normal preparations.

Apparently, some of you, including Mrs. Brownell, don’t do Reading Comprehension. My post was about having some understanding as to why their heads were not in the game. Short week and going through an emotional couple of days. They are human like the rest of us and young. I also said that hopefully, they’ll be rested and focused against La Tech, if not, then we got issues….
