mount it afterward. And give it a supple kiss in the process.
I've even known some people who don't like the way it's mounted the first time so they do it again.

rabbit in a small honeysuckly patch. He ran around in a circle right back to me and I chot him with a load of #9s at about 6 to 8 feet....he fell into the honeysuckle. I grabbed the back to feet and pulled it out. Headless! Completely headless. I bet that shot of #9s had not spread an inch and a half at that distance. Never found the head.

I ever went duck hunting. The shotgun I wanted to shoot at the time was an old Stevens Pump shotgun I had just had restored. It had a 32" FULL CHOKE barrel. It was really better as a Turkey Shoot gun, but it were so purty, I had to use it.
I was shooting "Super Bulldog Salutes" self reloaded "High Brass" 7.5 shot this particular day. The pond was lightly frozen over, and we got there before dawn. Just as there got to be enough light to see, ducks started coming in and skidding on the ice. But, it was so thin, they would eventually break through.
I was sitting on a kind of "point" on the edge of the pond, and my brother-in-law and HIS brother were out in the middle of the pond in a duck blind. When it got light enough to shoot, I powdered a duck with my souped up shell, and he literally was so far away, he fell in the duck blind with them.
But then, one came around my point flying low, and almost by reflex, I got off a "hip shot". I'll bet that duck wasn't more than 15 feet away. Just like your wabbit, I blew that duck's head clean off. But, hey, that was the best place to choot em, I wasn't gonna eat his head anyway!

always loaded my own with 1 oz. of #9's. My dog pointed a single and the bird got up about 10 feet in front of me and came straight back over my head. It was just like the #8 station I think on a skeet range. Well sir, you talking about a BAM BAM play as they say in baseball....When my gun hit my shoulder I popped him and he was so close it looked like I shot a pillow. Feathers everywhere!! Well, I could not find the bird and I kept telling my dog to "hunt dead, hunt dea"...He and I were looking everwhere on the ground...and then I saw him laying in some branches over my head. The only thing left was the head and his two wings. THE ENTIRE BODY WAS GONE! He might not have been 6 feet away when I hit him. It was not HIS day.....

Folks, hate to break it to you, but mounting deer, or any animal, is still illegal. might have to wait for Bidens second term before that kind of stuff decriminalized.
