Fun with tires.

About a month ago I decided it was time to replace the rear tires on my car, so I ordered a pair from Tire Rack and had them installed by a local tire shop. Two weeks later I was driving through a monsoon and drove over a stone dagger which destroyed one of my brand new tires. Thankfully I have road hazard coverage and I'm told the check's in the mail. Meanwhile the same tire joint throws another new tire on and I'm back in business.... until a few days later when they called me up and asked me to confirm which tire is on my car. When I did they were like, "Yeah.... we put the wrong tire on there," so I had to drive back to the shop and have them swap out the tire again. (In their defense, the tires were almost identical.) They apologized profusely and off I went. It took me a few days to realize something was amiss, but on Tuesday the car was all over the road and suddenly the "check tire" alarm went off, so back we go again to visit my friends at the tire shop They just called and explained that while the tire was balanced correctly, the road force was all outta whack, maybe because of a flat spot on the tire, so now they're putting yet another brand new Pirelli on my car, the fourth one in less than a month.

I probably have that much in change in an old beer bucket I keep in the closet.
Also, buying a $1000 set of tires won't double the value of my car.
