How do you hedge your bets on that one? Have you already contracted with a moving van to potentially move to Canada?

Unfortunately, no matter who wins, this country will never be the same. I'm an Independent but the far left liberals have taught people how to hate and this comes from elected officials. Sad, sad. I hate it for my grandchildren. Hate is a four letter word like all of the other 4 letter profanity.

But liberals love America and are as patriotic as you are. They just hate everything about it and want to destroy it. But with love. Love wins.

a lifelong Republican, but I just cannot accept all of the daily lies he spins. He claims the US is turning the corner on Covid 19, but we are no where near turning the corner. The positive testing numbers and deaths this week are breaking records. He contradicts himself without blinking an eye. According to the CDC, the earliest the vaccine will be ready for distribution is at least April 2021.
The Washington Post identified 22,247 cases in 1316 days during the Trump Presidency where he made false or misleading claims. How can intelligent people trust this man.

I wish that I had the answer to your intelligent question. Those who believe Trump is the answer to Covid are seriously lacking! He is a power hungry, self centered maniac.

I don't vote for the man... I vote for his policies. I absolutely can't vote for Biden, because I don't respect the man or his policies. As far a Covid, I don't think anyone could have defeated this virus. Maybe there is someone in the world that has all the correct answers, but it certainly doesn't look that way. It will either run its course, or we will develop medications to lesson its effects. I expect it to stay around like the flu.

As a libertarian - you would almost call me a old school republican (pre-1994 style).
Basically "winning" is the only thing the new republicans care about. As a result the policy platform has been completely lost. Gone is fiscal responsibility. Gone is good (but small) governance. Gone is the high-road and never the much. Gone is the gentleman.
In any case, this is just the accumulation of the Nixon southern strategy. Stoke the fires of outrage in order to promote other policy goals. Follow that with Voodoo (difficult to grasp economic policy - not really against it but is is more than the average person no longer understands a balanced budget anymore - debt is the new "norm". Then you had the Newt 94 grouping that ushered in the "do nothings". The lose to win group that a dysfunctional government serves your own criticisms and outrage. Follow that with W quasi-cronyism of government contracts for business purposes into the mid 2000s whereby profits would be sought from corporate firms rather than bloated government agencies. The next to last stage includes the tea-party surge which is the stem for the trump bloom.
Now start wrapping up these steps. Old school republicans realizing the potential of an outraged subgroup harness that power in their coalition for their own policy gains. Nixon was never going to give into the former dixiecrats, just use their influence... as Nixon did. The thinking evolved with the core Republicans of the late 20th century aka the Voodoo/W-kickbackers and the no-nothing Newt folks. So what happened was that there was moral rot within the republican core to the point that the platform was vague that bad governance was "ok" extreme deficits were "ok" and outrage fueling is "ok". So, we have a post-voodoo economic system with a reliance on government speeding for corporate profits that is now driven by the dixiecrat social outrage machine.
I jokingly say that pro-business Democrats are CLOSER to being former republicans that the modern republican party. What has happened is that the true "republicans" of morals/duty drive policy now rests loosely with "establishment" democrats while the true left exist but is a loud minority within their own party.
Which leads me to the last point. Both Trump and Bernie were "outsider" anti-pure challenges from the fringes. Trump is a fringe social kook. Bernie is a fringe economic kook. The Dems were able to resist the stupid, no so with the Republicans. The sole reason is that "good governance" is still a pillar to the Dems, which is why Bernie was rejected (twice) because while he stirred his outrage base, the rest of their camp realized the unfathomable reality of his message. For the Republicans, "winning: was more important than good governance. THAT is why lies, covid deaths, cratering economy, distrust among neighbors don't matter as long as "he wins".
I am not saying that Dems can be good, but when the focus is on "winning" America loses.
Oh and vote for a libertarian if you can. We are crazy but harmless.

Party seems to be closer to the Republican Party I knew as a young man, rather than my current 62 years.
The Republican Party seems to be lost. I firmly believe that Donald Trump will either wind up in prison or broke. Maybe both. He is like you said, a self centered maniac with no real empathy toward the average American citizen.

Sounds like you’re looking for a politician who is much better at lying to you.
Probably corrupt, probably against your best interests, but really good at lying.

Trumps mouth. He has claimed a least dozen times that he has been working on a health care plan. He first said it would be ready in a month, back in 2018. Then about six months later he said it would be ready in two weeks. From then to now he has given several new dates, but nothing. Then on the 60 minutes last Sunday the recorded taping Trump was asked for the plan as he said it was done. His assistant walked up with a thick notebook full of nothing. Per CBS, no plan was included, no detail, but rather a listing of previous federal codes.
Do you think Trump is intelligent? I don't. I think his is a lot of bluster learned from his father, who was not exactly the most respected business man.

you don't have a candidate to vote for. I hate Trump, he's a smug, lying, privileged little snivel. However, he's the best choice going forward.
If you're voting for Biden, I hope your gun and ammo rack is full as you won't be calling 911. I hope you can live on half the money you have now as well.
"Per CBS" That's the number one problem. People, like you, watch TV and everything you know is based on the crap that's pumped out every day. TV (including the news) IS NOT reality, it's the version of reality someone is pumping into your head. Turn it off and think for yourself!

I agree with everything you say 100% including the fact that I am a lifelong republican. We have a president who is only worried about his own image and behaves like a 2 year old when challenged. Still cannot understand how our country has gotten to the point where there is simply no good choice for us. I guess we are stuck with either dumb or dumber for the next 4 years and maybe the public will come to it's senses before 2024, yeah right.

That the future of America will be determined with the election of either of these two POLITICANS. The virus is much more damaging right now and it would be nice if those”in charge” would make a genuine effort to solve this serious problem. Not very likely that “they” will work together on anything. Regardless of how you vote Covid will still be a widespread issue for the entire world.

if Biden wins, you can expect a complete lock down of the US
Oct 27, 2020, 4:37 PM

so that control can be achieved in total. At that time, the Chinese will launch their attack. Phase I cyber attack that will lock down most of the internet. Phase II, a negotiation with the Liberal leadership on complete and direct control of the US by China. The leadership will cave in the name of love and peace and the US will become a communist controlled territory. End of the US.
Just sayin'
