Here's my issue with the SECSPN spin machine

Aug 17, 2013, 5:54 PM

When a team is good, let's say a team like Clemson for an unbiased view :), they still manage to suckle the SEC teet by saying that the team is "built like a SEC team." If that's not a slap in the face to the team and that team's conference, I don't know what is.

I get it. The SEC does have the cream of the crop. There's no denying that the top 3 teams in the SEC would also be at the top of the other conferences. There's no denying that they've taken home the crystal ball the last 7 years. It's been a great run. That doesn't mean that all other conferences don't have great teams that deserve coverage as well.

Last year we, and Louisville, proved that teams from other conferences can beat a top SEC team. The SEC has bottom feeders just like any other conference, but to equate a season in the SEC to "running the gauntlet" would make it sound like the teams in the SEC are world beaters top to bottom.

As a Disney stockholder I'm conflicted, but it's to the point now where I can't even watch their coverage. I hope Fox Sports will see the unrest that's brewing across the nation and capitalize on their opportunity to grab the eye of the college football fan that's tired of the SEC lovefest. Competition will breed change and we can get back to fair and even coverage of the sport we all love.

PS: Go Tigers!
