Hurricane Irma - Saturdays game....

Sep 6, 2017, 9:39 AM

So maybe no one is talking about this because the Hurricane may not effect us at all...but lets say it does... and we have another environment like we had against Notre Dame in 2015...Without having any bias and being realistic who do you think has the advantage...If there weather is anywhere near what it was back in 2015 I think it will be an ugly game...We ran a total of 64 plays and 43 of those were runs.

So our OL vs their DL/LBs- Do they have the depth to grind it out in the trenches. We have 7-8 guys we are rotating in throughout the game so if it comes to the 4th qt and its gut check time. I think we have the advantage.

Their OL vs our DL/LBs- This is where I get worried. Our starting 4 DL are straight BEASTLY SAVAGES and our LBs are pretty good. Depth on the DL is decent overall as well...But the depth at LB is what concerns me. Brent did NOT sub his LBs much last year (in important games) and from the starters to the backups you could see why..And if the weather is anywhere near what is was back in 2015 they will definite feed their 260lb Running back all night long (40 touches). Can we sustain a dominate performance for 60 minutes? for 45 mins I have no doubt we will keep him in check but that last quarter those boys better dig deep...

This is just my thoughts pending the weather...if its sunny and clear Clemson by 17.... Rain Clemson by 3

What are your thought :)

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

Why do you have to ask hypothetical questions

Sep 6, 2017, 2:03 PM [ in reply to Re: Hurricane Irma - Saturdays game.... ]

when the facts show no chance of that happening Saturday? Life is difficult enough without thinking about things I don't have to think about.

Irma will still be around miami saturday. However there may be a lot of evacuated people up there from the coast. Myself included

Im not concerned about our DL-LBs

Sep 6, 2017, 9:58 AM

As much as you are. I was really impressed with how our back up defensive lineman & LBs played saturday. Remember, we only lost BB in the LB corps. Most of our backup LBs have played plenty of snaps. Plus if u didnt notice Saturday, we have this safety named Tanner Muse who is a very hard hitter & absolutely lit up just about everyone he went against on saturday. My only concern about the aub game is the fact that our DBs may be a little rusty due to kent state only passing the ball maybe 10x on saturday and we have yet to see how they improved from last season on all the PI calls. Highly doubt saturday will be another 2015 ND game with the rain. Irma is not supposed to hit FL until sometime Saturday.

Re: Im not concerned about our DL-LBs

Sep 6, 2017, 10:06 AM

thanks for the input..Just trying to talk some football. Muse is a head hunter..him and Simmons!! And with the LBs i'm not concerned with the starters...Its the backups that I'm worried about especially if Joseph and Dorian has to come out of the game.. We have to get them off the field early...and on offense have some nice drives ourselves to give the D a break.

Clemson wins regardless the conditions. It will be fun to see Simmons & Muse (dare we call them S&M?) light up a few Aw-Burn receivers.

I LOVE HYPOTHETICALS. Although there is no way Irma will have any impact on the game....She will still be south of\ hitting southern Florida Saturday. I think heavy rain would help our chances...or have no affect. Both teams ability to stop the run will be pivotal even with no rain. I think JT is a better passer than KB at this point, so that is the only reason I believe rain would help us. Plus I trust in our ability to stop the run.

It's situations like these when we should have installed a retractable roof on memorial stadium instead of building the football ops building. What was Dabo thinking?

Depth at linebacker is fine this year. It's the depth on the defensive line that worries me. Well not worries but it catches my attention

Re: Hurricane Irma - Saturdays game....

Sep 6, 2017, 12:50 PM

If we played in Slop .... I'm taking our OL and Pettway's down hill running style.

Our Depth? I know I sound like a broken record ... but we will rotate 12 players on the DL,
our 2nd team DL features 2 5 stars.

LB? 3 veteran starters backed up by our young talent. I'm not even sure which is 2nd string at a couple of the LB spots, but our 2017 class was the best LB class AU has singed in 15 years.
But, they're true fresham ... I would only expect 1 or 2 of those guys to crack the 2 deep, possibly.

DB? Two great starters at Safety ... S is the only spot on this D where I'd say we have a lack of Depth. I like our 3rd stirng guy Nick Ruffin, but if we had 2 injurys at the S spot, I'd be worried.
CB is a solid 2 deep at both sides.

DL is the most loaded spot on our team.

Predicting weather and hurricane

Sep 6, 2017, 1:25 PM

arrival is not some short of alley crap shoot. The exact path is questionable but not its arrival time - somewhere. That arrival time - somewhere - is entirely predictable and the hurricane will not be upon us or affect us much at all by Sat. night. It'll will be in S. Florida. Next week leading into Louisville - whole different story.

Sep 6, 2017, 1:49 PM

Not likely to affect the weather, but could very likely cause some Auburn fans not to make the trip due to fears about their return trip on Sunday.
